Genetic association of growth traits with carcass and meat traits in Nellore cattle
The aim of this study was to estimate genetic and phenotypic associations of growth traits with carcass and meat traits in Nellore cattle. Data from male and female animals were used for weaning weight (WW; N = 241,416), yearling weight (YW, N = 126,596), weight gain from weaning to yearling (GWY, N = 78,687), and yearling hip height (YHH, N = 90,720),

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

The influence of feeding behaviour on growth performance, carcass and meat characteristics of growing pigs [PDF]
This study investigated the effect of the feeding behaviour on growth performance, and car- cass and meat characteristics of 96 barrows fed ad libitum or restrictively with high or low amino acids (AA) diets according to a 2 7 2 factorial design.

Intercompartmental communication in senescence
Senescent cells experience structural changes in the plasma membrane, endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondria, lysosomes, nucleus, and cytoskeleton. These alterations disrupt crosstalk among cellular compartments, impairing vesicular trafficking, contact sites, and molecular flow.

Turning Observed Founder Alleles into Expected Relationships in an Intercross Population
Pedigree-derived relationships for individuals from an intercross of several lines cannot easily account for the segregation variance that is mainly caused by loci with alternative alleles fixed in different lines.

Growth hormone polymorphisms and growth traits in Chinese Tibetan sheep Ovis aries
Growth hormone (GH) plays an important role in promoting growth, protein and muscle accretion, and fat catabolism, suggesting that GH is a potential candidate gene affecting growth traits in vertebrates. In this paper, polymorphisms in GH were investigated in 632 Chinese Tibetan sheep, by using DNA sequencing. Three single nucleotide polymorphisms were

ABSTRACT Background Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a rare disorder characterized by fluctuating muscle weakness with potential life‐threatening crises. Timely interventions may be delayed by limited access to care and fragmented documentation. Our objective was to develop predictive algorithms for MG deterioration using multimodal telemedicine data ...

Aggressiveness traits, fitness and insights in their genetic basis in Magnaporthe oryzae [PDF]
Partial resistance is often presented as an alternative to the frequent failure of complete and specific resistance of plants to pathogens. Partial resistance is presumed to be non-specific and multigenic.
