Quantitative trait loci (QTLs) for body weight and tail length are mapped in an F2 population of 927 C57BL/6J x DBA/2J mice. Crossbreeding effects on reproductive traits of does and growth and carcass traits of kids

A total of 146 does and 177 kids (90 males and 87 females) involved in the first crossing between Alpine bucks and Rove does were studied. Effect of breed was not significant on fertility, but highly significant (P < 0.01) on abortion and prolificacy of does. The Alpine breed was more prolific although more abortive than Rove.
