Nitrosyl heme emerges as an extracellular nitrodilator that dilates arteries without crossing the cell membrane. Instead, heme‐NO mobilizes NO moieties from a preformed intracellular NO store within vascular smooth muscle, providing both functional and chemical evidence for the NANOS model, revealing a previously unrecognized mechanism of arterial ...

Distribution and abundance of organic thiols [PDF]
The role of glutathione (GSH) in protecting against the toxicity of oxygen and oxygen by products is well established for all eukaryotes studied except Entamoeba histolytica which lacks mitochrondria, chloroplasts, and microtubules.

ABSTRACT Diabetes mellitus‐induced erectile dysfunction (DMED) is a highly prevalent complication among diabetic patients; however, its underlying pathogenic mechanisms remain incompletely understood. Metabolic disorder is a hallmark of diabetes, yet its precise contribution to DMED progression is not well defined.

Protection by Inhaled Hydrogen Therapy in a Rat Model of Acute Lung Injury can be Tracked \u3cem\u3ein vivo\u3c/em\u3e Using Molecular Imaging [PDF]
Inhaled hydrogen gas (H2) provides protection in rat models of human acute lung injury (ALI). We previously reported that biomarker imaging can detect oxidative stress and endothelial cell death in vivo in a rat model of ALI.

AUTACE is a bifunctional nanoplatform that integrates tumor targeting, immune engagement, and on‐demand KRAS degradation. It targets KRAS/TP53 co‐mutant tumors via TP53‐specific TCRs, elicits antitumor CD8+ T‐cell responses through surface anti‐CD3 antibodies, and uses low‐intensity focused ultrasound (LIFU) to trigger controlled release of the KRAS ...

Cysteine import via the high-affinity GSH transporter Hgt1 rescues GSH auxotrophy in yeast
Glutathione (GSH) is an abundant thiol-containing tripeptide that functions in redox homeostasis, protein folding, and iron (Fe) metabolism. In Saccharomyces cerevisiae, GSH depletion leads to increased sensitivity to oxidants and other toxic compounds, disruption of iron-sulfur (Fe-S) cluster biogenesis, and eventually cell death.

Dynamics of Dinitrosyl Iron Complex (DNIC) Formation with Low Molecular Weight Thiols. [PDF]
Dinitrosyl iron complexes (DNICs) are ubiquitous in mammalian cells and tissues producing nitric oxide (NO) and have been argued to play key physiological and pathological roles.

This study demonstrates that transcription factor androgen receptor (AR) directly binds the LF promoter, driving lactoferrin overexpression to promote ferritin (FTH1/FTL) upregulation and inhibit p53‐ALOX12‐mediated ferroptosis in prostate cancer. Lactoferrin could be a new potential therapeutic target in prostate cancer.
