PFAS Vadose Zone Mass Discharge at an AFFF‐Impacted Site: 1. Validation Based on a Multiple Lines‐of‐Evidence Approach

open access: yesRemediation Journal, Volume 36, Issue 2, Spring 2026.
ABSTRACT Questions have recently been raised about the suitability of using porewater samples collected with suction lysimeters to estimate per‐ and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) mass discharge in the vadose zone. Multiple lines of evidence were evaluated to determine if porewater samples collected during a data gaps investigation in the former ...

Stage‐Specific Metabolic and Proteomic Dynamics Underlying Ripening and Quality Formation in Tropical Evergreen Pomegranate

open access: yeseFood, Volume 7, Issue 4, August 2026.
Integrated multi‐omics reveals that pomegranate ripening between 90 and 130 days drives optimal sugar‐acid balance and pigmentation via coordinated regulation of phenylpropanoid, flavonoid, and carbohydrate metabolism pathways. ABSTRACT Pomegranate fruit development involves coordinated physiological, metabolic, and proteomic changes shaping coloration

In Silico Structure‐Guided Design of Peptide Candidates Targeting γ‐Secretase Subunit Assembly

open access: yesProteins: Structure, Function, and Bioinformatics, Volume 94, Issue 8, Page 1518-1528, August 2026.
ABSTRACT The γ‐secretase complex is a membrane‐embedded protease essential for intramembrane cleavage of substrates such as Notch receptors and the amyloid precursor protein (APP), processes central to cancer progression and Alzheimer's disease (AD) pathology.

Evaluation of AMSU‐A and MHS Radiance Assimilation Strategies in MPAS–JEDI 4DEnVar for Mountain‐to‐Plain Convection Over Beijing, China

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres, Volume 131, Issue 13, 16 July 2026.
Abstract To improve numerical prediction of mountain‐to‐plain (MTP) convection over the Beijing region, this study uses the MPAS–JEDI four‐dimensional ensemble‐variational (4DEnVar) data assimilation system on a global 3–60 km variable‐resolution mesh to evaluate assimilation strategies for radiances from the Advanced Microwave Sounding Unit‐A (AMSU‐A)

Advances in the Study of Endometrial Receptivity and Glucose Metabolism Mechanisms in Insulin Resistance

open access: yesEndocrinology, Diabetes &Metabolism, Volume 9, Issue 4, July 2026.
This article systematically reviews how insulin resistance (IR) disrupts endometrial receptivity by interfering with glucose metabolism mechanisms, ultimately leading to infertility in patients with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). ABSTRACT Introduction Insulin resistance (IR) is one of the important pathologic bases of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)

A Scalable Bayesian Spatiotemporal Model for Water Level Predictions Using a Nearest Neighbor Gaussian Process Approach

open access: yesEnvironmetrics, Volume 37, Issue 5, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Obtaining accurate water level predictions is essential for water resource management and implementing flood mitigation strategies. Several data‐driven models can be found in the literature. However, there has been limited research with regard to addressing the challenges posed by large spatio‐temporally referenced hydrological datasets, in ...

Species‐Specific Adaptability in Seasonal Resource Use by Non‐Breeding Crows: Contrasting Responses to Natural and Anthropogenic Environments

open access: yesEcological Research, Volume 41, Issue 4, July 2026.
Two sympatric crow species showed distinct resource use during the snow‐free season, exploiting different environments and anthropogenic resources. In contrast, during winter, both species converged on similar habitats and food resources under snow cover. These results highlight flexible, season‐dependent resource use in non‐breeding crows.

Local Adaptation and Edaphic Divergence Across Ultramafic and Non‐Ultramafic Soils: Insights From Artificially Controlled Experiments and Elemental Profiles

open access: yesEcological Research, Volume 41, Issue 4, July 2026.
The study addresses early‐stage edaphic divergence between ultramafic and non‐ultramafic soils using Solidago virgaurea as a model species, and aims to advance our understanding of local adaptation to contrasting soil environments. By combining reciprocal transplant experiments under controlled conditions with elemental analyses of soils and plant ...
