Fracture investigation of the shape memory alloy using GTN model
Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 2019Abstract In this study, a constitutive model is proposed to investigate the pseudoelastic-plastic behavior of the shape memory alloys, SMAs, up to fracture. The proposed model is based on the Boyd and Lagoudas phase transformation model which is extended to take into account the plastic deformation and the fracture behavior of the SMAs by using the ...

Application of the GTN model to predict the forming limit diagram of IF-Steel
Journal of Mechanical Science and Technology, 2012Forming limit diagrams (FLDs) are extensively used in industries, particularly the auto industry. The establishment of these diagrams using a predictive approach can lead to reduction in both cost and time. In the present work, Gurson-Tvergaard-Needleman (GTN), a porosity-based model, was used to predict the FLD of an interstitial-free steel via finite

On the identification and uniqueness of constitutive parameters for a non-local GTN-model
Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 2020Abstract The present study proposes a parameter identification and calibration strategy for a specific non-local GTN-model, which has been developed to circumvent spurious mesh dependency during simulation of ductile failure. The parameter calibration strategy is applied to an experimental database of a pressure vessel steel tested at moderate to ...

Benchmark Analysis by Beremin Model and GTN Model in CAF Subcommittee
Volume 1: Codes and Standards, 2021Abstract In order to establish a guideline for fracture evaluation without excessive conservatism by considering plastic constraint in the ductile-brittle transition temperature (DBTT) region, the CAF (Constraint-Based Assessment of Fracture in Ductile-Brittle Transition Temperature Region) subcommittee has been launched in 2018 in the ...

AN ANISOTROPIC EXTENSION FOR A THERMOVISCOPLASTIC GTN DUCTILE DAMAGE MODEL
International Journal for Multiscale Computational Engineering, 2023In this work, a thermoviscoplastic GTN ductile damage model is extended to account for anisotropic plastic behavior. The novel feature of the proposed model is the enrichment of a GTN model, with the Hill's yield criterion accounting for hardening, softening, strain-rate effect, plastic work heating, thermal diffusion, and void shearing mechanism.

Micromechanical modelling of weldments using GTN model
International Journal of Fracture, 2010Non-transferability of fracture data from specimen level to component level is a serious limitation of conventional fracture mechanics, as fracture resistance data obtained is largely geometry dependant. The difficulty is largely overcome by GTN model which models the drop in load carrying capacity of a material with the increase in plastic strain ...
