Hydrodeoxygenation of guaiacol over orthorhombic molybdenum carbide: a DFT and microkinetic study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
The hydrodeoxygenation of guaiacol is modelled over a (100) β-Mo2C surface using density functional theory and microkinetic simulations. The thermochemistry of the process shows that the demethoxylation of the guaiacol, to form phenol, will be the ...

Atroposelective Construction of Axially Chiral Tetraarylethenes Via NHC‐Catalyzed Desymmetrization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We report the first NHC‐catalyzed atroposelective synthesis of axially chiral TAEs via oxidative desymmetrization of prochiral TAE dialdehydes. This catalytic strategy operates under mild conditions and accommodates a broad range of phenolic and nitrogen nucleophiles, delivering diverse axially chiral TAEs in good yields and up to 99% ee.

Kinetic and Thermodynamic Analysis of Guaiacol Hydrodeoxygenation

open access: yes, 2019
: Kinetics of guaiacol hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) was studied using supported MoxC–SBA-15 and as a comparison 5 wt% Pt/C under 30 bar hydrogen at 200 °C and 300 °C.

Thinking Inside the Box: A Novel Approach to Smoke Taint Mitigation Trials

open access: yesMolecules, 2022
When bushfires occur near wine regions, grapevine exposure to smoke can taint grapes due to the uptake of smoke-derived volatile compounds that can subsequently impart unpleasant smoky, medicinal, burnt rubber and ashy characters to wine.

Cobalt–Graphene Catalyst for Selective Hydrodeoxygenation of Guaiacol to Cyclohexanol

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2022
Herein, cobalt-reduced graphene oxide (rGO) catalyst was synthesized with a practical impregnation–calcination approach for the selective hydrodeoxygenation (HDO) of guaiacol to cyclohexanol.

Kinetic Study of the Pyrolysis and Oxidation of Guaiacol

open access: yes, 2018
Guaiacol or 2-methoxy phenol is one of the main primary tars produced during lignin pyrolysis. Tar conversion in the gas phase influences the production of gaseous and condensable products, and is also responsible for PAH and soot formation during ...
