Treatment outcome with guiding flange prosthesis in hemimandibulectomy patients: Case series of three patients

open access: yesAnnals of Maxillofacial Surgery, 2015
There are various indications that may necessitate partial or complete resection of the mandible, from trauma to congenital deformities. However, the most prevalent indication that requires surgical resection of the mandible along with the involved adjacent oral structures is the presence of a locally aggressive neoplastic growth.

Nasal soft‐tissue anatomy of Triceratops and other horned dinosaurs

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Although ceratopsid dinosaurs possess a characteristically hypertrophied narial region, soft‐tissue anatomy associated with such a skeletal structure and their biological significance remain poorly understood. The present study provides the first comprehensive hypothesis on the soft‐tissue anatomy in the ceratopsid rostrum based on the Extant ...

Hysteretic Behavior Study on the RBS Connection of H-Shape Columns with Middle-Flanges or Wide-Flange H-Shape Beams

open access: yesBuildings
Existing research on reduced beam section (RBS) connections in steel frames rarely addresses H-shaped beams with middle and wide flanges. Therefore, this study investigates the hysteretic behavior of RBS connections in H-shaped columns connected to H ...

A second species of non‐crocodyliform crocodylomorph from the Late Triassic fissure deposits of southwestern UK: Implications for locomotory ecological diversity in Saltoposuchidae

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract The Late Triassic–Early Jurassic fissures of the Bristol Channel area (southwest England and south Wales) are renowned for their diverse vertebrate faunas. These assemblages have yielded an array of predominantly small‐bodied forms that are crucial to our understanding of the early evolution of several major tetrapod clades.

Redescription of the Triassic cynodont Cistecynodon parvus and reassessment of its phylogeny

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Cynodontia is an important subclade of Therapsida that first occurred in the late Permian. It includes extinct subclades which are the non‐mammaliaform cynodonts and Mammaliaformes, with the latter ultimately giving rise to crown mammals. The systematics of non‐mammaliaform cynodonts has been extensively studied and is relatively well‐resolved,

Clinical Evaluation of Masticatory Performance of Pre and Post-mandibular Guidance Therapy in Hemi-mandibulectomy Patients: A Quasi-experimental Study [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research
Introduction: Surgical removal of the lower jaw is the most common cause of mandibular deviation due to benign or malignant neoplasms. The Palatal Guide Flange Prosthesis (PGFP) is a recommended corrective appliance to reduce this clinical manifestation.

Widespread distribution of large silesaurids evidenced by a new record from the Middle Triassic of southwest Gondwana

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
The largest silesaurid known from South America is described here, demonstrating that silesaurids reached large body sizes in southwestern Gondwana. This discovery further underscores the widespread geographic distribution and temporal persistence of large silesaurids across Pangea, despite faunal turnovers and environmental events such as the Carnian ...

Oldest well‐preserved euprimate petrosal, from the early Eocene of India (Vastan Lignite Mine, Gujarat)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract An exquisitely preserved, isolated partial petrosal with associated fragmentary stapes is described from the Vastan Lignite Mine (Gujarat, India), dated to the early Eocene (~54.5 Ma). Several anatomical traits (e.g., large petrosal plate; posterolateral entry of the internal carotid artery to the tympanic cavity; bony tubes surrounding the ...

Rehabilitating mandibular resection with guide flange prosthesis.

open access: yesJournal of the College of Physicians and Surgeons--Pakistan : JCPSP, 2015
Loss of continuity of the mandible leads to deviation of the residual segment towards the surgical site and alteration in muscle function. This results in facial asymmetry and malocclusion. A corrective device known as 'guide flange prosthesis' is indicated to limit this clinical manifestation. Guide flange prosthesis serves as a training device.

Postcranial anatomy and osteohistology of an early prozostrodont cynodont from the Upper Triassic of Brazil

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Prozostrodon brasiliensis, a probainognathian cynodont of the clade Prozostrodontia, is recognized as a key taxon for understanding the origin of Mammaliaformes and mammals. Despite detailed investigations of its cranial anatomy, the postcranial skeleton has received comparatively less attention.
