Superpotent topical steroids used to treat psoriasis and steroid-responsive dermatoses may produce local cutaneous side effects, including atrophy, steroid acne, perioral dermatitis, hypopigmentation, hypertrichosis and superinfections. Suppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis may be one of the systemic side effects.
