Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Soft Law and the Protection of Vulnerable Migrants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Since the 1980s, an increasing number of people have crossed international borders outside of regularized migration channels, whether by land, air or sea.

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Guiding principles for the development of adaptive self-regulating guidelines for the use of generative artificial intelligence in the business customer experience

open access: yesCogent Business & Management
Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) is reshaping business customer experiences. However, the benefits of adopting GenAI are competing with the inherent shortcomings like biases and hallucinations. Therefore, to mitigate the risks of GenAI adoption,

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

EMPLOYEE EXPERIENCES IN A SERVANT-LED ORGANISATION: TREAT OTHERS AS YOU WISH TO BE TREATED

open access: yesBaltic Journal of Economic Studies
Numerous organisations attribute their accomplishments to the practice of servant leadership. However, only a few studies have focused on understanding the experience of employees working in an organisation committed to servant leadership.

Interactions between the hippocampus, prefrontal cortex, and amygdala support complex learning and memory. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
One of the guiding principles of memory research in the preceding decades is multiple memory systems theory, which links specific task demands to specific anatomical structures and circuits that are thought to act orthogonally with respect to each other.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

The Guiding Principles and the Responsibility to Protect [PDF]

open access: yesForced Migration Review, 2008
At the GP10 conference, several speakers invoked the‘responsibility to protect’ and recommended closely linkingit to the Guiding Principles and with the fate and situationof the millions of IDPs.
