OC-163 identification of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) using field asymmetric ion mobility spectrometry (FAIMS) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Introduction Resident colonic bacteria, principally anaerobes and firmicutes, ferment undigested fibre. The resultant volatile organic compounds (VOCs) formed are dissolved in the faeces but also absorbed and excreted in the urine.

Gut commensal flora: tolerance and homeostasis [PDF]

open access: yesF1000 Biology Reports, 2009
Commensal microorganisms are not ignored by the intestinal immune system. Recent evidence shows that commensals actively participate in maintaining intestinal immune homeostasis by interacting with intestinal epithelial cells and delivering tolerogenic signals that are transmitted to the underlying cells of the immune system.

A bibliometric study of global trends in diabetes and gut flora research from 2011 to 2021

open access: yesFrontiers in Endocrinology, 2022
Background and objectivesDiabetes mellitus is a serious metabolic disease that causes a serious economic burden worldwide. Gut flora is a major component of diabetes research, and the aim of this study was to understand the trends and major components of

The gut microbiota and immune checkpoint inhibitors. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Although immunotherapy has been remarkably effective across multiple cancer types, there continues to be a significant number of non-responding patients. A possible factor proposed to influence the efficacy of immunotherapies is the gut microbiome.

Self-reinoculation with fecal flora changes microbiota density and composition leading to an altered bile-acid profile in the mouse small intestine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Background: The upper gastrointestinal tract plays a prominent role in human physiology as the primary site for enzymatic digestion and nutrient absorption, immune sampling, and drug uptake.

Bioprocess Development for Lantibiotic Ruminococcin-A Production in Escherichia coli and Kinetic Insights Into LanM Enzymes Catalysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Ruminococcin-A (RumA) is a peptide antibiotic with post-translational modifications including thioether cross-links formed from non-canonical amino acids, called lanthionines, synthesized by a dedicated lanthionine-generating enzyme RumM.

Changes in Gut Flora after Cephalexin Treatment [PDF]

open access: yesBMJ, 1970
Eighteen patients with urinary tract infection were treated with cephalexin orally. Absorption was variable, between 29 and 89% of the total daily dose being excreted in the urine in 24 hours. A significant number of patients became faecal carriers of Pseudomonas aeruginosa compared with a control group who received no antibiotics.

Heterogeneity of the gut microbiome in mice : guidelines for optimizing experimental design [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Targeted manipulation of the gut flora is increasingly being recognized as a means to improve human health. Yet, the temporal dynamics and intra- and interindividual heterogeneity of the microbiome represent experimental limitations, especially in human ...

Integrative analysis of intestinal flora and untargeted metabolomics in attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a clinically common neurodevelopmental disorder of the brain. In addition to genetic factors, an imbalance in gut flora may also play a role in the development of ADHD.

Gut micro flora in genesis of methilthyo metabolites of paracetamol [PDF]

open access: yesZbornik Matice Srpske za Prirodne Nauke, 2019
Gut micro flora represents a system of extensive metabolic capacity which is quite different when compared to other cells of body and organs. In recent times, there has been an evidence of very important role of gut cysteine conjugate beta ...
