Prioritizing marine invasive alien species in the European Union through horizon scanning
Abstract The disproportionately low presence of marine species in the list of invasive alien species (IAS) of Union concern of the European Union (EU) Regulation 1143/2014 does not fully acknowledge the threat they pose to the EU marine environment. In this study, the first EU‐scale Horizon Scanning (HS) focusing on marine alien species was performed ...

Gymnodinium microreticulatum sp. nov. (Dinophyceae): a naked, microreticulate cyst-producing dinoflagellate, distinct from Gymnodinium catenatum and Gymnodinium nolleri [PDF]
A new microreticulate cyst-producing dinoflagellate, Gymnodinium microreticulatum Bolch et Hallegraeff (Gymnodiniaceae), is described from laboratory cultures established from germinated cysts coll...

A rapid, efficient approach for the expression of active recombinant extracellular polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) depolymerases originating from various bacterial strains. It enables the characterization of new PHB depolymerases and the direct comparison of activity between enzymes and conditions; as an example, the activity of five PHB depolymerases is ...

This review identifies and risk screens potentially invasive non‐native species (NNS) within the Regional Organization for the Protection of the Marine Environment Sea Area. In total, 136 NNS were identified, of which 56 are already present and a further 80 were identified as likely to arrive in the future.

In this paper, we investigate the dynamics of autonomous and nonautonomous stochastic toxin‐producing phytoplankton–zooplankton system. For the autonomous system, we establish the sufficient conditions for the existence of the globally positive solution as well as the solution of population extinction and persistence in the mean.
