Glimpse of past dynamics: A new set of phytoplankton primers for sedaDNA
In this study, we introduce novel metabarcoding primers for sedimentary ancient DNA (sedaDNA) targeting cyanobacteria and dinoflagellates, amplifying short ribosomal DNA fragments. The comparison of ASVs identified by these primers with published ones allowed for the identification of distinctive communities and the critical role of primer choice.

Scientific opinion on marine biotoxins in shellfish in the Republic of Croatia
Summary Marine biotoxins are thermostable, mostly non‐protein molecules with different chemical components. According to solubility, they are divided into water‐soluble (hydrophilic) and fat‐soluble (lipophilic). The regulations of the EU and the Republic of Croatia regarding the maximum limits (ML) in live shellfish cover several groups: azaspiracids (

decarbamoyloxySaxitoxins (doSTXs), dd‐doSTX (2), 12β‐deoxy‐doSTX (3), 12α‐deoxy‐doSTX (4) and doSTX (5) were synthesized, and 2, 3, and 5 were identified in the toxin‐producing marine dinoflagellates and a freshwater cyanobacterium. In addition, conversion of 2 to 3, and 4 to 5 by SxtT with VanB was confirmed.
