Quasiinvariant gyroscopic systems

Soviet Applied Mechanics, 1982
Let a conservative gyroscopic system have a large coefficient H in the \(L_ 1\) (linear) term of its Lagrangian. Then the \(L_ 2\) and \(L_ 0\) terms are individually time-invariant to within the order \(\epsilon =1/H\). Gyroscopic forces prevent energy conversion between kinetic and potential forms.

Origins and Mechanisms of Bias Instability Noise in a Three-Axis Mode-Matched MEMS Gyroscope

Journal of microelectromechanical systems, 2019
In this paper, we examine the origins of bias instability in three-axis, mode-matched MEMS gyroscopes. Reducing this drift phenomenon is crucial for highly accurate navigation in applications, such as automated driving or indoor localization.

1.5-Million Q-Factor Vacuum-Packaged Birdbath Resonator Gyroscope (BRG)

IEEE/LEOS International Conference on Optical MEMS, 2019
We report a vacuum-packaged fused-silica (FS) micro birdbath shell resonator gyroscope (BRG) with near-navigation-grade in-run (evaluation duration $< 1$ day) bias stability of 0.0103 deg/h (at room temperature without temperature stabilization). The BRG

High-sensitivity real-splitting anti-PT-symmetric microscale optical gyroscope.

Optics Letters, 2019
Optical gyroscopes measure the angular velocity using the Sagnac effect. However, the resonance splitting due to the Sagnac effect is directly proportional to the linear dimensions of the device.

Towards a navigation grade Si-MEMS gyroscope

International Symposium on Switching, 2019
Northrop Grumman LITEF GmbH (NG LITEF) started the development of MEMS gyroscope chips with Deep Reactive Ion Etching (DRIE) in 2003. In parallel a 6 degree of freedom (DOF) micro electro mechanical system (MEMS) miniaturized inertial measurement unit ...

Watch Face Gyroscopic Design: Using the Gyroscope

2019
In this eleventh chapter of the Smartwatch Design Fundamentals book, let’s get into designing what are called “Parallax” watch faces with gyroscopic or gyro-based watch face components, called “gyroscopes,” which was a recent feature added in V.1.5.2. These are used on watch faces that are customized, that is, those which use components dragged out of ...
