Non-Hermitian ring laser gyroscopes with enhanced Sagnac sensitivity

Nature, 2019
Gyroscopes are essential to many diverse applications associated with navigation, positioning and inertial sensing1. In general, most optical gyroscopes rely on the Sagnac effect—a relativistically induced phase shift that scales linearly with the ...

Output Feedback Control of Micromechanical Gyroscopes Using Neural Networks and Disturbance Observer

IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems, 2020
This article addresses the output feedback control of micromechanical (MEMS) gyroscopes using neural networks (NNs) and disturbance observer (DOB). For the unmeasured system states, the state observer and the high gain observer are constructed.

Terminal Sliding Mode Control of MEMS Gyroscopes With Finite-Time Learning

IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems, 2020
This article proposes a neural terminal sliding mode controller (TSMC) with finite-time (FT) convergence for the uncertain MEMS gyroscope dynamics. To address the uncertainty, considering the periodic tracking property of MEMS gyroscopes, a composite ...

Three-axis atomic magnetometer for nuclear magnetic resonance gyroscopes

, 2020
A three-axis atomic magnetometer for nuclear magnetic resonance gyroscopes (NMRGs) is demonstrated. To satisfy the miniaturization demand of NMRGs, a magnetic-resonance-based atomic magnetometer is used to detect the longitudinal magnetic field ...

Optical Fiber Gyroscope

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1979
Abstract With the development of low loss single mode optical fiber waveguides, it is possible to construct a gyroscope using optical fibers. The configuration is a multi-turn Sagnac interferometer. Light from an external source is split and injected into the fiber ends, travels in clockwise and counterclockwise directions and is recombined to form ...

Some Gyroscopic Oscillations

Journal of Applied Mechanics, 1961
Consideration is given to the nonlinear terms in the differential equations governing the motion of gyroscopes under constant acceleration and a “correcting” torque. Unstable oscillations are noted when a correcting torque is present and the nonlinear terms are included.

NEMS Gyroscope

2017 International Conference on Engineering, Technology and Innovation (ICE/ITMC), 2017
Actually MEMS is a widely spread and well known term - Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems. MEMS gyroscope is well known almost twenty years. For the time being NEMS is still a new term and it is meant Nano-Electro-Mechanical Systems. It is discussed NEMS gyroscope as a new angular rate sensor. It is suggested to use recently invented narrowest electrical

Quasiinvariant gyroscopic systems

Soviet Applied Mechanics, 1982
Let a conservative gyroscopic system have a large coefficient H in the \(L_ 1\) (linear) term of its Lagrangian. Then the \(L_ 2\) and \(L_ 0\) terms are individually time-invariant to within the order \(\epsilon =1/H\). Gyroscopic forces prevent energy conversion between kinetic and potential forms.
