Destruxin E Decreases Beta-Amyloid Generation by Reducing Colocalization of Beta-Amyloid-Cleaving Enzyme 1 and Beta-Amyloid Protein Precursor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Alzheimer-disease-associated beta-amyloid (A beta) is produced by sequential endoproteolysis of beta-amyloid protein precursor (beta APP): the extracellular portion is shed by cleavage in the juxtamembrane region by beta-amyloid-cleaving enzyme (BACE ...

Changes in Body Composition in Children and Young People Undergoing Treatment for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Ongoing evidence indicates increased risk of sarcopenic obesity among children and young people (CYP) with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), often beginning early in treatment, persisting into survivorship. This review evaluates current literature on body composition in CYP with ALL during and after treatment.

Drug Repositioning of Proton Pump Inhibitors for Enhanced Efficacy and Safety of Cancer Chemotherapy

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2017
Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), H+/K+-ATPase inhibitors, are the most commonly prescribed drugs for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux and peptic ulcer diseases; they are highly safe and tolerable.

Activation of GRP78 ATPase suppresses A549 lung cancer cell migration by promoting ITGB4 degradation

open access: yesCell Adhesion & Migration, 2022
Hypochlorous acid (HOCl) is an essential signal molecule in cancer cells. Activated GRP78 ATPase by a HOCl probe named ZBM-H inhibits lung cancer cell growth.

Localization of H + -ATPases in soybean root nodules

open access: yesPlanta, 1999
The localization of H(+)-ATPases in soybean (Glycine max L. cv. Stevens) nodules was investigated using antibodies against both P-type and V-type enzymes. Immunoblots of peribacteroid membrane (PBM) proteins using antibodies against tobacco and Arabidopsis H(+)-ATPases detected a single immunoreactive band at approximately 100 kDa.

Role of CFTR and ClC-5 in Modulating Vacuolar H+-ATPase Activity in Kidney Proximal Tubule [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Background/Aims: It has been widely accepted that chloride ions moving along chloride channels act to dissipate the electrical gradient established by the electrogenic transport of H+ ions performed by H+-ATPase into subcellular vesicles.

Parent‐to‐Child Information Disclosure in Pediatric Oncology

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Despite professional consensus regarding the importance of open communication with pediatric cancer patients about their disease, actual practice patterns of disclosure are understudied. Extant literature suggests a significant proportion of children are not told about their diagnosis/prognosis, which is purported to negatively ...

Radiotherapy Delivery in Deep Inspiration for Pediatric Patients—Final Results of the Phase II Feasibility Study TEDDI

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
Abstract Introduction The TEDDI trial tested the feasibility and reproducibility of deep‐inspiration breath‐hold (DIBH) in pediatric patients referred for radiotherapy. This report presents final results, including patient‐reported outcomes (PRO) and dosimetric comparison of DIBH and free‐breathing (FB).

A mouse model of autism implicates endosome pH in the regulation of presynaptic calcium entry. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Psychoactive compounds such as chloroquine and amphetamine act by dissipating the pH gradient across intracellular membranes, but the physiological mechanisms that normally regulate organelle pH remain poorly understood.
