Toxins of Locus of Enterocyte Effacement-Negative Shiga Toxin-Producing Escherichia coli
Studies on Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) typically examine and classify the virulence gene profiles based on genomic analyses. Among the screened strains, a subgroup of STEC which lacks the locus of enterocyte effacement (LEE) has ...

The influence of YBa2Cu3O4 (YBCO) superconductor layer (S-layer) with varying thickness d-YBCO = 20 to 50 nm on the magnetic coupling between two La0.67Ca0.33MnO3 (LCMO) ferromagnet layers (F-layer, thickness d-LCMO = 50 nm) in F/S/F heterostructures ...

It is a challenge to improve the selectivity of high‐denticity ligands for Mg2+ over Ca2+. We show that in aryl‐alkynyl derivatives of APTRA, electron‐withdrawing substituents lower the binding affinity for Ca2+ more than Mg2+, making the ligand more selective for Mg2+.

Urinary LGALS3BP is elevated in bladder cancer patients compared to healthy controls as detected by the 1959 antibody–based ELISA. The antibody shows enhanced reactivity to the high‐mannose glycosylated variant secreted by cancer cells treated with kifunensine (KIF).

Convergence to the Reynolds approximation with a double effect of roughness [PDF]
We prove that the lubrication approximation is perturbed by a non-regular roughness of the boundary. We show how the flow may be accelerated using adequate rugosity profiles on the bottom.

Hemoglobin Abruzzo is an abnormal human hemoglobin with a substitution at a residue known to be involved in the binding of 2,3-diphosphoglyceric acid. It has increased oxygen affinity and reduced heme-heme interaction in the absence of organic or inorganic phosphate cofactors. In inorganic phosphate buffers the Bohr effect and heme-heme interaction are
