Green Metrics and Sustainability in Photocatalysis

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 16, Issue 14, July 22, 2024.
Lights and shadows in photocatalysis. This Review analyzes the sustainability of photoredox catalytic processes in the context of mass‐based metrics, highlighting significant sustainability issues in photocatalysts synthesis and in catalytic protocols, primarily driven by energy demanding preparations and by solvent intensive work‐up and purification ...

Short-term microbial response after laboratory heating and ground mulching adition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Fire alters soil organic matter inducing quantitative and qualitative changes that presumably will affect post-fire soil microbial recolonisation. Several studies have evidenced marked soil organic carbon reduction after moderate and high intensity fire,

The effectiveness of encapsulated salicylic acid as a treatment to enhance abiotic stress tolerance stems from maintaining proper hormonal homeostasis

open access: yesPhysiologia Plantarum, Volume 176, Issue 4, July/August 2024.
Abstract Climate change induces significant abiotic stresses that adversely affect crop yields. One promising solution to improve plant resilience under adverse conditions is the application of exogenous salicylic acid (SA). However, its negative effects on growth and development are a concern.

Synthesis and biological evaluation of phosphonated dihydroisoxazole nucleosides [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Phosphonated isoxazolinyl nucleosides have been prepared via 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reaction of nitrile oxides with corresponding vinyl or allyl nucleobases for antiviral studies.

Comparing CT‐Like Images Based on Ultra‐Short Echo Time and Gradient Echo T1‐Weighted MRI Sequences for the Assessment of Vertebral Disorders Using Histology and True CT as the Reference Standard

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Volume 59, Issue 5, Page 1542-1552, May 2024.
Background Several magnetic resonance (MR) techniques have been suggested for radiation‐free imaging of osseous structures. Purpose To compare the diagnostic value of ultra‐short echo time and gradient echo T1‐weighted MRI for the assessment of vertebral pathologies using histology and computed tomography (CT) as the reference standard.

Systematic Derivation of Amplitude Equations and Normal Forms for Dynamical Systems

open access: yes, 1998
We present a systematic approach to deriving normal forms and related amplitude equations for flows and discrete dynamics on the center manifold of a dynamical system at local bifurcations and unfoldings of these. We derive a general, explicit recurrence

Regioselective suzuki coupling on pyridinium N-(3,5-dibromoheteroar-2-yl)aminides [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
A regioselective Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reaction on 3',5'-dibromo pyridinium N-(2'-azinyl)aminides is reported. A series of 3'-aryl(or heteroaryl)-5-bromo-pyridinium N-(2'-pirazinyl)aminides were obtained in good yields.

Upper‐level wind mode over the North Atlantic‐Arctic Ocean leading to coherent variations of Eurasian and North American winter temperatures and weakness in the CMIP6 models

open access: yesInternational Journal of Climatology, Volume 44, Issue 2, Page 428-447, February 2024.
The synchronization of winter temperature anomalies between northern Eurasia and North America is observed at an inter‐annual time scale. The V300‐EOF2 mode over the North Atlantic‐Arctic Oceans modulates the coherent circulation variation at both the troposphere and the stratosphere, affecting temperature anomalies over northern Eurasia and North ...

Electroweak-Charged Bound States as LHC Probes of Hidden Forces

open access: yes, 2018
We explore the LHC reach on beyond-the-Standard Model (BSM) particles $X$ associated with a new strong force in a hidden sector. We focus on the motivated scenario where the SM and hidden sectors are connected by fermionic mediators $\psi^{+, 0}$ that ...

Large-scale soil-structure physical model (1g) - assessment of structure damages [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
International audienceThe paper presents a new large small-scale physical model (6 m3) for studying the damage to structures owing to underground movements: settlement, subsidence and sinkhole.
