To determine annual layers for reconstructing the past environment at annual resolution from ice cores, we employed snow-stake data back to 1972, tritium content, solid electrical conductivity measurements (ECM) and stratigraphic properties for the 73 m ice core at the H72 site, east Dronning Maud Land, Antarctica.

過去数百年程度の時間スケールにおける気候・環境因子を南極氷床の広域で求め比較し、産業革命以降の人間活動の地球規模での影響を評価する「国際南極横断観測計画」(ITASE : International Trans-Antarctic Scientific Expedition)が浅層雪氷コアを用いて国際的に進められている。この目的のためには、氷床コアの同位体組成、化学主成分などを初めとする種々の要素を高精度で測定する必要がある。また、広域で採取されたコアネットワークのデータを比較することから、タイムマーカーとなる示準層の検出や年代決定の高精度化が期待されている。さらに、可能な限り共通の分析手法を用いて、測定値の標準化が推薦されている。本稿では、2本の南極浅層コア(H72, ドーム南)の基本解析(層位 ...
