Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

H i Properties of Field Galaxies at z ≈ 0.2–0.6: Insights into Declining Cosmic Star Formation
We report statistically significant detection of H i 21 cm emission from intermediate-redshift ( z ≈ 0.2–0.6) galaxies. By leveraging multisightline galaxy survey data from the Cosmic Ultraviolet Baryon Survey and deep radio observations from the ...

The A2667 Giant Arc at z=1.03: Evidence for Large-scale Shocks at High Redshift
We present the spatially resolved emission line ratio properties of a ~10^10 M_sun star-forming galaxy at redshift z=1.03. This galaxy is gravitationally lensed as a triple-image giant arc behind the massive lensing cluster Abell 2667.

RoundMi: A quantitative method to analyze mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells
RoundMi is a workflow for rapid analysis of mitochondrial morphology in mitotic cells. By combining adaptive preprocessing with automated segmentation and quantification, it enables accurate measurements from single focal plane images, reducing acquisition time and computational demands while remaining compatible with high‐throughput fixed and live ...

Drugs previously repurposed to target blood cancers reduced neuroblastoma and glioblastoma cell growth and viability. However, their levels of anticancer activity were different and their clinical application may be problematic due to side effects at effective doses.

The Most Distant H i Galaxies Discovered by the 500 m Dish FAST
Neutral hydrogen (H i ) is the primary component of the cool interstellar medium (ISM) and is the reservoir of fuel for star formation. Owing to the sensitivity of existing radio telescopes, our understanding of the evolution of the ISM in galaxies ...

Cutaneous Melanoma Drives Metabolic Changes in the Aged Bone Marrow Immune Microenvironment
Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, increasingly affects older adults. Our study reveals that melanoma induces changes in iron and lipid levels in the bone marrow, impacting immune cell populations and increasing susceptibility to ferroptosis.
