Feasibility of At-Home Hand Arm Bimanual Intensive Training in Virtual Reality: Case Study

open access: yesJMIR Formative Research
This single-participant case study examines the feasibility of using custom virtual reality (VR) gaming software in the home environment for low-dose Hand Arm Bimanual Intensive Training (HABIT).

Co‐activation of Selective Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptor Subtypes Is Required for Neuroprotection against Alzheimer's Disease

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Beta‐amyloid peptide (Aβ)‐induced suppression of hippocampal GABAergic interneuron activity drives hyperexcitability, amyloid pathology, and cognitive impairment in Alzheimer's disease (AD), suggesting that enhancing hippocampal inhibition may be protective.

Integrating habit science and learning theory to promote maintenance of behavior change: does adding text messages to a habit-based sleep health intervention (HABITs) improve outcomes for eveningness chronotype young adults? Study protocol for a randomized controlled trial

open access: yesTrials
Background Eveningness chronotype—the tendency for later sleep and wake times—arises from a confluence of psychosocial, behavioral, and biological factors.

The inclusion of habits in the stage model of self-regulated behavior change: an investigation of life events and red meat consumption in the UK

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology
A shift to a diet with low or no red meat is considered necessary to end the environmental and health impacts caused by the current overconsumption of red meat.

Astrocytes Coordinate Neurovascular Coupling During Prolonged Sensory Demand via AQP4/TRPA1/BEST1/D‐Serine Signaling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Neuronal activation leads to astrocytic transient volume changes, activating transient receptor potential ankyrin 1 (TRPA1) channels, leading to Ca2+ influx. Activation of TRPA1 causes the release of D‐serine through BEST1. Finally, the augmented extracellular levels of D‐serine boost neuronal activity by binding GluN1‐containing NMDARs, leading to CBV

Retrospective Grid Cells in the Medial Entorhinal Cortex Encode Past Paths During Spatial Navigation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Retrospective grid cells are identified in the medial entorhinal cortex, with spatial firing patterns that become most grid‐like when activity is projected onto recently traversed locations. Their coding loses spatial precision in darkness and is disrupted during assisted movement, indicating that entorhinal representations incorporate recent path ...

Deficit financing in overlapping generation economies with habit persistence [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper, we study how deficit financing is affected by the introduction of habit formation in an otherwise standard Gale (JET, 1973) economy in which the government is a net lender and young agents are borrowing rather than saving. We find that the

Cannabinoid CB1 Receptor in Nociceptors Mediates Postoperative Analgesia via ASIC3 Inhibition

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CB1R and ASIC3 are co‐expressed in CGRP+ nociceptors of mouse DRG. Plantar incision triggers an upregulation of ASIC3 and activation of ASIC3+ neurons, driving mechanical allodynia. CB1R activation suppresses ASIC3 function and downstream ERK1/2 phosphorylation, thereby braking nociceptive signaling and accelerating pain resolution.

Asset pricing, habit memory, and the labor market [PDF]

open access: yes
This article studies the asset pricing and the business cycle implications of habit formation in a production economy with capital adjustment costs and endogenous labor supply. A specification of internal habit in the mix of consumption and leisure which
