Scattering of decuplet baryons in chiral effective field theory

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2017
A formalism for treating the scattering of decuplet baryons in chiral effective field theory is developed. The minimal Lagrangian and potentials in leading-order SU(3) chiral effective field theory for the interactions of octet baryons ( $$B$$ B ) and ...

Life, but Not as We Know It: Why Fine‐Tuning Arguments Fail

open access: yesNoûs, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Definitions of “life” and theories of life are systematically neglected in arguments for and from fine‐tuning. Despite claims to be neutral about the definition of “life,” fine‐tuning arguments generally presuppose that life requires a form of structural complexity only afforded by physicochemical complexity of the sort with which we are ...

Evaluation of the two lightest quark masses

open access: yesЯдерна фізика та енергетика, 2017
Simple relations between the masses of the two lightest up and down quarks were obtained on the basis of the simple physically based model compatible with the present-day theory of strong interactions, i.e. with quantum chromodynamics.

The Gamma Factory: A New Experimental Paradigm for the Post‐HL‐LHC Era

open access: yesAnnalen der Physik, Volume 538, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT The Gamma Factory (GF) proposal is motivated by the recognition of a largely untapped potential of the CERN accelerator complex to enable a new research program at the intersection of particle, nuclear, atomic, fundamental, and applied physics. These fields could benefit from novel experimental tools made possible by a future GF facility.

Spin and Polarization in High-Energy Hadron-Hadron and Lepton-Hadron Scattering [PDF]

open access: yesSymmetry, 2020
The role of spin degrees of freedom in high-energy hadron-hadron and lepton-hadron scattering is reviewed with emphasis on the dominant role of soft, diffractive, non-perturbative effects. Explicit models based on analyticity and Regge-pole theory, including the pomeron trajectory (gluon exchange in the t channel) are discussed.

Study of prompt gamma and neutron emission for real‐time range verification in proton and carbon‐ion therapy

open access: yesMedical Physics, Volume 53, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract Background Accurate range verification is crucial in hadrontherapy to fully exploit the ballistic advantages of charged particles and prevent damage to healthy tissues. Among the proposed approaches, prompt gamma imaging (PGI) has emerged as an effective technique for real‐time monitoring, but its performance is limited by the intense neutron ...

Hadrons anti-hadrons production in reaction planes in relativistic heavy ion collisions on two common event generators: HIJING and HYDJET++

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2017
The study of hadron production in heavy ion collisions provides the researcher with valuable techniques to investigate the properties of quark gluon plasma (QGP).

The branching ratio $$\omega \rightarrow \pi ^+\pi ^-$$ ω→π+π- revisited

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields, 2017
We analyze the most recent data for the pion vector form factor in the timelike region, employing a model-independent approach based on dispersion theory.

Search for neutral long-lived particles in pp collisions at s $$ \sqrt{s} $$ = 13 TeV that decay into displaced hadronic jets in the ATLAS calorimeter

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2022
A search for decays of pair-produced neutral long-lived particles (LLPs) is presented using 139 fb −1 of proton-proton collision data collected by the ATLAS detector at the LHC in 2015–2018 at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV.
