Optimization of culture medium for growth of Haematococcus pluvialis
Journal of Applied Phycology, 1997A central composite rotatable design was used to examine the effects of five components of the medium on the growth of Haematococcus pluvialis in batch culture. The medium components considered were: sodium acetate,potassium nitrate, major elements, trace elements and vitamins.

Enhanced astaxanthin production from Haematococcus pluvialis using butylated hydroxyanisole
Journal of Biotechnology, 2016Haematococcus pluvialis is a promising natural source of high-value antioxidant astaxanthin under stress conditions. Biotic or abiotic elicitors are effective strategies for improving astaxanthin production in H. pluvialis. Butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) was identified as an effective inducer for H. pluvialis LUGU.

Archiv f�r Mikrobiologie, 1940Es wird gezeigt, das die Vermehrung allein von dem zur Verfugung stehenden Vitamin beeinflust wird. Ist dieses verbraucht, dann kann nur ein neuerlicher Vitaminzusatz die Vermehrung wieder ansteigen lassen. Ein weiterer Zusatz von Nahrsalzen hat keine Wirkung.

Cultivation of Haematococcus pluvialis in airlift bioreactor
The production of Haematococcus pluvialis NIES-144 was investigated in this experiment. The F1 medium (Fabregas et al., 1998) with a vitamin B complex supplement at 12 microgram/L was shown to yield the highest cell density of H.pluvialis.
