Haemophilus parasuis vaccines

Veterinary Immunology and Immunopathology, 2016
Glässer's disease, which is caused by Haemophilus parasuis, is a major threat to swine throughout the world. At present, the predominant method of controlling this disease is through vaccination with an inactivated vaccine, which has many limitations. For example, there is no available method to differentiate between infected and vaccinated animals. In

Haemophilus parasuis Infection in Swine

Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, 1977
SUMMARY Septicemic disease occurred in 49 of 126 pigs several days after being transported 80 km. All affected pigs died. The main changes in acutely affected pigs were skin discoloration, pulmonary edema, arthritis, meningitis, and renal glomerular thrombosis. In peracute cases, gross findings were minimal.

Morphological variations of Haemophilus parasuis strains

Journal of Clinical Microbiology, 1986
Haemophilus parasuis strains isolated from the noses of apparently healthy animals and from animals with pathological conditions were examined for the presence of a capsule, for their ability to agglutinate in acriflavine or after boiling, and for their peptide profile after polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE).

Fimbriae and Membranes on Haemophilus parasuis

Journal of Veterinary Medicine, Series B, 1992
SummaryIn the electron microscope an additional layer (glycocalix) of the cell wall and fimbriae on Haemophilus parasuis were shown in thin sections of the infected CAM which have their origin on the CM of the Haemophilus parasuis‐cells. No fimbriation was seen after conventional cultivation.

Analysis of Haemophilus parasuis by multilocus enzyme electrophoresis

Veterinary Microbiology, 1997
The diversity among 40 Australian isolates and eight reference strains of Haemophilus parasuis was examined using multilocus enzyme electrophoresis. Thirty-four electrophoretic types (ETs) were recognized with a mean diversity per locus of 0.405. One Australian isolate was located in an ET separated by a considerable distance (> 0.8) from the rest of ...
