AbstractFour cases of hair follicle nevi are described. Hair follicle nevus is an extremely rare hamartoma occurring on the face, which has had no clear histopathologic definition until now. A short review of the clinicopathologic features of this disease is presented.

Keratins of the Human Hair Follicle
International Review of Cytology, 2005Substantial progress has been made regarding the elucidation of differentiation processes of the human hair follicle. This review first describes the genomic organization of the human hair keratin gene family and the complex expression characteristics of hair keratins in the hair-forming compartment. Sections describe the role and fate of hair keratins

Hair Follicle Regeneration by Transplantation of a Bioengineered Hair Follicle Germ
2016Hair follicle morphogenesis is first induced by epithelial-mesenchymal interactions in the developing embryo. In the hair follicle, various stem-cell populations are maintained in specialized niches to promote repetitive hair follicle-morphogenesis, which is observed in the variable lower region of the hair follicle as a postnatal hair cycle.

Controls of Hair Follicle Cycling
Physiological Reviews, 2001Nearly 50 years ago, Chase published a review of hair cycling in which he detailed hair growth in the mouse and integrated hair biology with the biology of his day. In this review we have used Chase as our model and tried to put the adult hair follicle growth cycle in perspective.

Localized hair follicle hamartoma
Journal of Cutaneous Pathology, 1993A 4‐year‐old male presented with an indurated papular plaque on his right nasolabial fold. The lesion, present since the child was a few months of age, progressively extended in a band‐like fashion up to the upper lip. Microscopically, there was almost complete replacement of the hair follicles by trichoepithelioma‐like epithelial proliferations ...

Biology of the Hair Follicle: The Basics
Seminars in Cutaneous Medicine and Surgery, 2006The mammalian hair follicle represents a unique, highly regenerative neuroectodermal-mesodermal interaction system that contains numerous stem cells. It is the only organ in the mammalian organism that undergoes life-long cycles of rapid growth (anagen), regression (catagen), and resting periods (telogen).

Optimization of hair follicle spheroids for hair-on-a-chip
Biomaterials ScienceWe report spheroids prepared by injecting LEF1 and Wnt1 into DPCs via transfection and then adding KCs and HUVECs. Through SEM, we observed a part extending outward from the TK and TKH surfaces, as indicated by white arrows.

The increasing use of the hair follicle as a stem cell paradigm is due in part to the complex interplay between epithelial, dermal and other cell types, each with interesting differentiation potential and prospective therapeutic applications. This review focuses on research into the environmental niche, gene expression profiles and plasticity of hair ...

The hair follicle group in mice
The Anatomical Record, 1966AbstractInitiation and development of the follicle population in mice were examined during embryonic and early postnatal life. The shape of the curve relating follicle density with age suggests that follicle intiation begins in the 14‐day‐old embryo and continues until about two days after birth.

Hair follicle kinetics in psoriasis
British Journal of Dermatology, 1976The rate of epidermal cell production has been measured in the various parts of scalp hair follicles in patients with psoriasis of the scalp, and in controls with normal scalp skin. An in vitro technique was used in which thin tissue slices were exposed to tritiated thymidine enabling cells about to divide to become autoradiographically labelled ...
