Potential of hairy vetch and crimson clover as cover crops
Cereal research communications, 2008Hairy vetch (Vicia villosa Roth) and crimson clover (Trifolium incarnatum L.) were evaluated as cover crops during two vegetation seasons in the Mediterranean and Continental area of Croatia. Better tolerance to low winter temperatures was observed for crimson clover. Higher plants (10 to 3 1 cm) before winter and in spring (67 to 117 cm) were measured

In this study, we measured nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions from plots of fall-planted hairy vetch (HV, Vicia villosa) grown as a green nitrogen (N) source for following summer forage crabgrass (Digitaria sanguinalis).

Effect of Cereal Rye and Hairy Vetch on Pest Suppression and Corn Yield
Communications in Soil Science and Plant Analysis, 2019A study was conducted in 2016 to determine the effect of cereal rye (Secale cereale) and hairy vetch (Vicia villosa) combination on pest suppression and corn yield in Northwest Missouri. The experiments consisted of six treatments corresponding to cereal

The vernalization of some leguminous plants, especially of hairy vetches
Euphytica, 1956It has been shown, especially in the species Vicia villosa, that youth development and seed production of plants can be furthered by vernalization. The method led to the selection of plants with an abundant vegetative development and was applied in the seed production of hairy vetches.
