Evolution and phylogeography of Halimeda section Halimeda (Bryopsidales, Chlorophyta)

Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution, 2005
Nuclear ribosomal and plastid DNA sequences of specimens belonging to section Halimeda of the pantropical green seaweed genus Halimeda show that the group under scrutiny contains many more genetically delineable species than those recognized by classical taxonomy.

Halimeda Hummii sp. nov., Halimeda cryptica V. Acerifolia var. nov. (Caulerpales, Chlorophyta), and Additional Records of Halimeda Species From: Puerto Rico1

Journal of Phycology, 1982
ABSTRACTA new species, Halimeda hummii, and a new variety of Halimeda cryptica Colinvaux and Graham both originally collected from the edge of the continental shelf on the southwest coast of Puerto Rico are newly described. The new species is irregular in its segment morphology and is the smallest species of Halimeda presently known.

Characteristics of Porosity and Permeability Layer of Fossil Halimeda Reef Mineral Rock of Miocene in the Xisha Islands and Its Genetic Model

open access: yesActa Oceanologica Sinica, 2015
Halimeda is one of the major reef-building algas in the middle Miocene of Xisha, and one of the significant reef-building algas in the algal reef oil and gas field of the South China Sea. However, there have been few reports regarding the characteristics

Calcification in the Green AlgaHalimeda

Journal of Experimental Botany, 1976
Calcification and photosynthetic rates in Halimeda tuna were measured by the 14C method under conditions of differing pH and total inorganic carbon (ΣCO2) concentrations. The effects of pH and ΣCO2 on photosynthesis and respiration were also monitored with a polarographic O2 electrode.

Halimeda renschii revived, and Halimeda batanensis (Chlorophyta, Siphonales)

Phycologia, 1975
Abstract The Halimeda species renschii, described by Hauck in 1886 was considered a form of H. opuntia by Barton in her 1901 monograph of the genus. Since then there has been little apparent reference to the type description or collection of H. renschii, with the result that much of the material in herbaria assigned to H. opuntia f.

FACTORS AFFECTING THE RATE OF CALCIFICATION IN HALIMEDA OPUNTIA (L.) LAMOUROUX AND HALIMEDA DISCOIDEA DECAISNE1

Journal of Phycology, 1969
SUMMARYHalimeda is a prominent part of the calcifying algae in the coral‐reef lagoon ecosystems in the Caribbean. Experiments were performed on the Cayo Enrique Reef off Puerto Rico and in the laboratories of the University of Maryland to study factors influencing the calcification processes.
