The Influence of the Magnetic Field Line Curvature on Wall Erosion near the Hall Thruster Exit Plane
One of the main factors that limit the lifetime of the Hall effect Thrusters (HETs) is the erosion of the acceleration channel caused by the flux of energetic ions.

On the magnetic mirror effect in Hall thrusters [PDF]
The magnetic mirror effect is studied in the channel of a Hall thruster. It is shown that gradients in magnetic field affect the presheath structure and electric potential distribution. The length of the radial presheath region decreases in the presence of a magnetic field gradient.

Numerical Study of Hall Thruster Plume and Sputtering Erosion
Potential sputtering erosion caused by the interactions between spacecraft and plasma plume of Hall thrusters is a concern for electric propulsion. In this study, calculation model of Hall thruster’s plume and sputtering erosion is presented.

Self consistent kinetic simulations of SPT and HEMP thrusters including the near-field plume region
The Particle-in-Cell (PIC) method was used to study two different ion thruster concepts - Stationary Plasma Thrusters (SPT) and High Efficiency Multistage Plasma Thrusters (HEMP-T), in particular the plasma properties in the discharge chamber due to the ...

Boltzmann expansion in a radiofrequency conical helicon thruster operating in xenon and argon [PDF]
A low pressure (~ 0.5 mTorr in xenon and ~ 1 mTorr in argon) Boltzmann expansion is experimentally observed on axis within a magnetized (60 to 180 G) radiofrequency (13.56 MHz) conical helicon thruster for input powers up to 900 W using plasma ...

Two-region model for positive and negative plasma sheaths and its application to Hall thruster metallic anodes. [PDF]
An asymptotic presheath/sheath model for positive and negative sheaths in front of a conducting electrode, with a continuous parametric transition at the no-sheath case, is presented.
