Evidence for Interfacial Halogen Bonding

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, 2016
AbstractA homologous series of donor–π–acceptor dyes was synthesized, differing only in the identity of the halogen substituents about the triphenylamine (TPA; donor) portion of each molecule. Each Dye‐X (X=F, Cl, Br, and I) was immobilized on a TiO2 surface to investigate how the halogen substituents affect the reaction between the light‐induced ...

Phase‐Pure and Size‐Tunable Tin Halide Perovskite Quantum Dots

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A trioctylphosphine oxide modulated protocol allows for the synthesis and study of the optical properties of a broad library of tin halide perovskite quantum dots across multiple A‐ and X‐site compositions with precise size tuning while eliminating unwanted 2D phases.

Inert Catalytic Sites Unlocked by Micropollutants for Rapid Water Decontamination with Near‐Complete Chemical Utilization

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Micropollutants can act as molecular triggers that activate a newly designed and chemically inert Fenton‐like PKU‐24 catalyst for on‐demand singlet oxygen generation from peroxymonosulfate (PMS), enabling nearly complete peroxide utilization and selective micropollutant removal from complex real‐world wastewater.

Halogenation of SiC for band-gap engineering and excitonic functionalization

open access: yes, 2017
The optical excitation spectra and excitonic resonances are investigated in systematically functionalized SiC with Fluorine and/or Chlorine utilizing density functional theory in combination with many-body perturbation theory.

Composition Restoration Enables Recycling of Mixed‐Cation, Mixed‐Halide Perovskites for Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Compositional drift during processing prevents the direct recycling of mixed‐cation, mixed‐halide perovskites. This work introduces a framework to quantitatively audit and restore recovered materials, enabling closed‐loop recycling with efficiencies comparable to virgin perovskites.

Halogen bonding as a supramolecular dynamics catalyst

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
The halogen bond is well known for its ability to assemble supramolecules. Here, using NMR experiments, the authors reveal the role of these bonds in dynamic processes, finding that the halogen bond directly catalyzes dynamical rotation in solid ...

Impact of PVDF Homo and Copolymer on Thiophosphate Solid Electrolyte Characteristics and Comprehensive Bulk‐To‐Surface Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study examines how a PVDF‐like binder affects the argyrodite Li6PS5Cl electrolyte properties. Using an approach that combines bulk and surface characterization with electrochemistry, we found a chemical interaction between Li6PS5Cl and PVDF, resulting in partial chlorine substitution by fluorine and slightly reduced ionic conductivity.

The Influence of Liquid on the Outcome of Halogen-Bonded Metal–Organic Materials Synthesis by Liquid Assisted Grinding

open access: yesCrystals, 2017
In this work, we describe novel multi-component halogen bonded solids of Co(ii) complexes and 1,4-diiodotetrafluorobenzene, 14tfib. We present the important influence of liquid on the outcome of liquid assisted grinding of dichlorobis(1,10-phenantroline ...

Polarized electron-beam acceleration driven by vortex laser pulses

open access: yes, 2019
We propose a new approach based on an all-optical set-up for generating relativistic polarized electron beams via vortex Laguerre-Gaussian (LG) laser-driven wakefield acceleration. Using a pre-polarized gas target, we find that the topology of the vortex

Advances in Halide Perovskites for Photon Radiation Detectors

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This work highlights recent progress in perovskite‐based photon radiation detectors, covering organic–inorganic hybrid, inorganic, lead‐free double, and vacancy‐ordered halide perovskites. Their detection performance is compared, material‐specific advantages and challenges are examined, and provides insight into current limitations and future ...
