The occurrence of denitrification in extremely halophilic bacteria [PDF]
The ability of Halobacterium vallismortis, Halobacterium mediterranei and Halobacterium marismortui (Ginzburg strain) to grow anaerobically and denitrify was determined. Each organism grew anaerobically only in the presence of nitrate. H. marismortui produced nitrite and dinitrogen from nitrate during exponential growth.
