Characterization and synthesis of mono- and diphytanyl ethers of glycerol
The methanolyzed lipids of the extreme halophile, Halobacterium cutirubrum, were separated into glycerol diether and glycerol monoether fractions. The diether was shown by synthesis to be 2,3-di-O-(3′R,7′R,ll′R,15′-tetramethylhexadecyl)-sn-glycerol.

Infections Caused by Halophilic Marine Vibrio Bacteria
The authors reviewed patients who developed sepsis or soft tissue infections caused by marine Vibrio bacteria in Florida.Marine Vibrio bacteria are the most common bacteria found in seawater. They are concentrated in marine animals that feed by filtration such as oysters and clams. These bacteria can cause gastroenteritis, sepsis, cellulitis leading to

Isolation and characterisation of the agarolytic bacterium Pseudoalteromonas ruthenica
Agar is a polysaccharide that primarily constitutes the cell wall of red algae. It is a good source of carbon and energy for many microbes. In the present study, an agarolytic bacterium, UQAD-3, was obtained from the waters of Al-Uqair, the Arabian Gulf,
