Technological Innovations in Agriculture for Scouting Halyomorpha Halys in Orchards

2023 19th International Conference on Distributed Computing in Smart Systems and the Internet of Things (DCOSS-IoT), 2023
In this paper, we illustrate the technological innovations we implemented in a test-bed field to automate the bug scouting process. Our work is motivated by the invasive global pest Halyomorpha halys (HH), whose damages have a huge economic impact for fruit orchards. We propose the automation of the time- and labor-intensive process of the HH scouting,

A Model for Simulation of Developmental Instars of Halyomorpha halys

2023 IEEE International Workshop on Metrology for Agriculture and Forestry (MetroAgriFor), 2023
This paper proposes a simple model for the development of the invasive brown marmorated stink bug (Halyomorpha halys). The quadratic equations for the duration of each instar under variable temperatures were obtained by regressions of datasets from an experiment under controlled conditions published by other authors.

Distribution and damage caused by Halyomorpha halys in Italy

EPPO Bulletin, 2016
Since the first occurrence of Halyomorpha halys (Heteroptera: Pentatomidae) in Italy in 2012, the pest has spread in the Po Valley causing severe damage in summer 2015, particularly in pear orchards. At present, populations of H. halys have been reported in the regions of Emilia‐Romagna (Modena, Reggio Emilia and Bologna provinces), Piedmont, Lombardy,

Chemical ecology of Halyomorpha halys: discoveries and applications

Journal of Pest Science, 2017
There have been notable and significant advances in elucidating the chemical ecology of the invasive Halyomorpha halys (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae), brown marmorated stink bug. This highly destructive and polyphagous pest is originally from Korea, China, and Japan, but was accidentally introduced into North America and Europe.
