RNA elements and their biotechnological applications in plants
Summary Engineering of plants for improved traits and efficient heterologous protein production can be achieved by modifying or introducing cis‐ or trans‐acting RNA elements. The function of these elements depends not only on their nucleotide sequence but also on their highly dynamic higher order structures.

Schistosome Satellite DNA Encodes Active Hammerhead Ribozymes [PDF]
Using a computer program designed to search for RNA structural motifs in sequence databases, we have found a hammerhead ribozyme domain encoded in the Smalpha repetitive DNA of Schistosoma mansoni. Transcripts of these repeats are expressed as long multimeric precursor RNAs that cleave in vitro and in vivo into unit-length fragments. This RNA domain is

Engineering and comparison of cas12a‐based genome editing systems in plants
SUMMARY While Cas9 and Cas12a are both RNA‐guided endonucleases used for genome editing, only Cas12a is able to process pre‐crRNA via its additional ribonuclease activity. This feature reduces the complexity of Cas12a versus Cas9‐based genome editing systems thus providing an attractive alternative for generating site‐specific mutations in plants. Here
