Technological and Engineering Solutions for the Prevention and Reduction of Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome in Construction Industry

AHFE International
Prolonged exposure to hand arm vibration (HAV) can lead to hand arm vibration syndrome (HAVS), which poses serious health risks for workers (Lache & Luculescu, 2008). This paper employs a five-stage scoping review to explore technological and engineering

Work disability after diagnosis of hand-arm vibration syndrome

International Archives of Occupational and Environmental Health, 2015
Our aim was to study the course of vasospastic and sensorineural symptoms after the clinical diagnosis of hand-arm vibration syndrome (HAVS), and the association of current HAVS symptoms with occupational status, self-evaluation of health, quality of life, and work ability. We gathered all HAVS cases diagnosed at the Finnish Institute of Occupational ...

A Study on Nonvibration-Exposed Organs Correlated Indices as Diagnostic Biomarkers of Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome

Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine
This study explored the relationship between hand-transmitted vibration and nonvibration exposed organs, and based on this, the feasibility of the related indicators of nonvibration exposed organs as biomarkers for the diagnosis of vibration white ...

Hand function in workers with hand-arm vibration syndrome

Journal of Hand Therapy, 1999
Hand-arm vibration syndrome has been specially addressed in the Scandinavian countries in recent years, but the syndrome is still not sufficiently recognized in many countries. The object of this preliminary study was to describe the nature and character of vibration-induced impairment in the hands of exposed workers.

Hand-Arm Vibration Syndrome in a Group of U.S. Uranium Miners Exposed to Hand-Arm Vibration

Applied Occupational and Environmental Hygiene, 1991
Abstract Medical evaluations were conducted in New Mexico on 134 uranium mine workers. Ninety-one of these workers were miners who used jack-leg-type drills on their job at the time of the survey. Engineering evaluations of two jack-leg-type drills and a jack hammer were carried out while four of the miners operated the tools.
