Observational study: handgrip strength, body composition and diabetes mellitus

open access: yes, 2021
: Objective: Previous studies have shown that relative handgrip strength, handgrip measure divided by body mass index (BMI), affects the future onset of diabetes and prediabetes.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Determinant factors of intraocular pressure responses to a maximal isometric handgrip test: Hand dominance, handgrip strength and sex

open access: yes, 2021
Purpose: To assess the mediating role of strength levels, hand dominance and participants´ sex on the intraocular pressure (IOP) behaviour during the execution of a maximal isometric handgrip test.

Rate of Force Development During a Handgrip Task Is Correlated with the Post-Impact Ball Speed of the Flat Serve

open access: yesSports
The aim of the present research was to test the hypothesis that rate of force development (RFD) during a handgrip task of the dominant arm in three different positions is associated with maximal post-impact ball speed of flat serve (PIBS).

Screening and epitope characterization of Nidogen‐2‐specific nanobodies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Camel immunization and phage display were employed to generate high‐affinity VHH nanobodies against Nidogen‐2. After library construction, biopanning, ELISA screening, sequencing, and recombinant expression, selected nanobodies were purified and characterized, leading to the preliminary exploration of a nanobody‐based sandwich ELISA for specific ...

Proteasomal degradation of intracellularly expressed Amblyomin‐X limits suicide gene therapy potential in melanoma cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study explores the feasibility of expressing the antitumoral protein Amblyomin‐X through a suicide gene therapy approach and investigates its intracellular fate after gene delivery. Although the gene is efficiently expressed, melanoma cells rapidly degrade the Amblyomin‐X protein via proteasome activity.

Dynamic handgrip recognition

open access: yes, 2005
Dynamic handgrip recognition is a new biometric authentication method based on the human grasping behavior. Handgrip pattern recognition seeks to analyze the dynamics inherent in grasping behavior such as how the pressure varying during the grasping ...

Examination of Handgrip Strenght by Occupational Therapeutics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The Bachelor thesis deals with the problem whether the occupational therapeutics in the Czech Republic measure the strength of a handgrip and the way it is tested. The strength of a handgrip can be tested in several possible methods.
