Handgrip Strength in Lung Transplant Candidates and Recipients

open access: yes, 2023
Objectives: Handgrip strength is increasingly used to assess muscle strength in various conditions. In this review, we investigated handgrip strength in patients receiving or awaiting lung transplant.Materials and Methods: For this integrative review, we

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Peripheral vasoconstriction is not elevated during hyperreactive responses to the cold pressor test: a cross-sectional study

open access: yesFrontiers in Physiology
BackgroundIndividuals demonstrating increases in systolic systolic blood pressure or diastolic diastolic blood pressure blood pressure of at least 15 mmHg are considered hyperreactors to the cold pressor test (CPT).

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Distinct Metabolomic Alterations Are Associated With Physical Function, Weight Loss, and Muscle Mass in Men With Cancer

open access: yesJournal of Cachexia, Sarcopenia and Muscle
Background Treatments for cancer cachexia, defined as involuntary weight and muscle mass loss leading to significant functional impairment, remain unavailable partly due to insufficient improvement of clinically meaningful outcomes in current trials.

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

Cardiac baroreflex sensitivity during repeated handgrip exercise: Comparisons with sit‐stand maneuvers and spontaneous rest

open access: yesPhysiological Reports
The cardiac baroreflex regulates arterial pressure via autonomic heart rate control. While sit‐stand maneuvers (SSM) have been used to assess baroreflex sensitivity (BRS), they may be impractical for physically immobile individuals.

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.
