Synthesis of corticosteroid haptens

Steroids, 1974
Abstract 6α- and 6β-Hemisuccinoxy derivatives of cortisol, 11-desoxycortisol, 21-desoxycortisol and 21-desoxycortisone were synthesized. The intermediate 6-hydroxy derivatives were prepared by the auto-oxidation of 3,5-dienol 3-alkyl ethers. During this step the dihydroxyacetone side-chain of cortisol and 11-desoxycortisol was protected by the 17,21 ...

Evaluation of Rh hapten

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1956
Abstract In this paper, we have detailed the current methods of Rh hapten production and have described its administration to the sensitized Rh-negative woman. Five representative case histories have been presented along with results obtained in the first 135 cases treated.

Stimulation of anti‐hapten response by heterologous protein devoid of hapten

European Journal of Immunology, 1972
AbstractRabbits were immunized with dinitrophenylated proteins. Injections with heterologous proteins were given 11 to 25 days after the primary injection. Spleen cell suspensions from the immunized animals were exposed to either (a) the original antigen, (b) the carrier protein of the original antigen (c) the heterologous protein used for the second ...

Searching Haptens, Carrier Proteins, and Anti-Hapten Antibodies

2007
Haptens are small molecules that are usually nonimmunogenic unless coupled to some carrier proteins. The generation of anti-hapten antibodies is important for the development of immunodiagnostics and therapeutics. Recently, our group has developed a database called HaptenDB, which provides comprehensive information about 1,087 haptens. In this chapter,

Effects of charged groups in haptens on adsorption equilibrium of hapten antibody

Biotechnology and Bioengineering, 1988
AbstractAntisera against charged (p‐azobenzoate and p‐azoben zenesulfonate) and uncharged (dinitrophenyl) haptenic groups were produced in rabbits, and the equilibrium characteristics of hapten‐antibody were measured by use of immunoadsorbents. The antibody to the uncharged hapten formed a stable binding with the hapten to the changes in ionic strength

Inhibition by Hapten of Cellular Immune Responses to a Hapten–Protein Conjugate

Nature, 1970
STIMULATION of specific immunocompetent cells by antigen has been postulated to involve an interaction of antigen with a complementary cell surface receptor. Furthermore, the specificity of these receptors, although not precisely established, may be very similar to that of serum-type antibody1–3.

The relative immunodominance of haptenic determinants on a complex hapten phage conjugate

Immunochemistry, 1975
Abstract Rabbits were immunized with highly conjugated dinitrophenylated coliphage MS2 containing 150 DNP groups per phage particle that were purified by isopycninc CsGl gradient centrifugation. The anti-DNP 150 MS2 IgG was analyzed over the course of immunization in terms of its anti-hapten, anti-carrier and anti-hapten-carrier reactivity ...

Experiences with Rh hapten

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1950
Abstract 1. 1. The case histories of three patients treated with Rh hapten during pregnancy and of one erythroblastotic baby treated after birth are reported. 2. 2. Two of the mothers gave birth to normal, healthy children while the third, in whom treatment was begun during the ninth lunar month, produced an infant which was severely affected

Monomer hapten and hapten‐specific IgG inhibit mast cell activation evoked by multivalent hapten with different mechanisms

European Journal of Immunology, 2019
Abstract Aggregation of IgE bound to high affinity IgE receptor (FcεRI) by multivalent antigen induces mast cell activation. Reportedly, disaggregation of aggregated FcεRI immediately terminated degranulation, and formation of co‐ligated FcεRI and low affinity IgG receptor FcγRIIB blocked degranulation by ...

Synthesis of Hapten-Protein Conjugate Vaccines with Reproducible Hapten Densities

2016
The ability to prepare hapten-carrier conjugates reproducibly with consistent lot-to-lot hapten densities and protein yields is a critical component of hapten vaccine development. This entails the development of appropriate coupling chemistries that do not cause protein precipitation and the development of methods to quantify hapten density.
