Evaluating Energy Absorption Performance of Filled Lattice Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Maximum stress must be considered to robustly evaluate energy absorber designs. This approach was applied to compare all types of absorbers in a single Ashby diagram and determine the utility of filling lattice voids with a second material. High‐performance fillers can improve the performance of lattices that are limited by buckling or catastrophic ...

Corporate Social Responsibility vs. Shareholder Value Maximization: Through the lens of hard and soft law [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Even with a significant increase in the number of firms around the world engaging in corporate social responsibility (“CSR”), many people still perceive CSR as a voluntary commitment and shareholder value maximization (“SVM”) as a mandatory requirement ...

A Simplified Laminar Flow Model for the Pultrusion of Glass Fiber/Polyethylene Terephthalate Commingled Yarns

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A simplified thermoplastic pultrusion model is developed to predict thermal fields in glass fiber/polyethylene terephthalate (GF/PET) composites with reduced computational cost. By combining effective material homogenization, validation against literature data, and Gaussian‐process‐based optimization, the study reveals how heating limits, pulling speed,

Cracks propagation characteristics of double-hole delay blasting in soft-hard composite rock mass

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
By researching the distance between blasthole and interface of soft-hard rock strata, as well as the time of delay detonation, blasting effect of the rock mass will be more controllable.

Study on the dynamic evolution characteristics of deformation and collapse of the extra-thick hard roof

open access: yes矿业科学学报, 2021
Yima coal field has an extra-thick hard rock strata, which is the main cause of many dynamic disasters in the mining area. Based on the mining face 21221 of Qianqiu mine in Yima coal field, Henan Province, China, this paper studies the movement ...

Rafting of Ni‐Based Superalloys Under Multiaxial Load as Understood by Phase‐Field Simulations and Critical Experiments

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Phase‐field simulations coupled with dislocation‐density‐based crystal plasticity modeling reproduce γ′ rafting behavior in single‐crystal Ni‐based superalloys under varied loading conditions. The model captures both macroscopic creep and microscopic morphology evolution, with results matching high‐temperature creep experiments.

Medical conscience clause and the hard case

open access: yesActa Universitatis Lodziensis Folia Iuridica, 2017
The aim of the paper is to describe the situation of using the medical conscience clause as a hard case in Ronald Dworkin’s understanding. Like in a hard case, the clause creates a possibility to appeal to an autonomous system of rules in case of an ...

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.
