The distribution of ATP within tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill.) embryos correlates with germination whee as total ATP concentration does not [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The distribution of ATP in tomato seeds was visualized by monitoring the luminescence of frozen sections on top of a gel containing all the components of the luciferase reaction, but excluding ATP.

Tuning the Optoelectronic Properties of Wide Bandgap Perovskites: Data‐Driven Insights from Combinatorial Synthesis and High‐Throughput Experimentation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Combinatorial vapor deposition enables independent tuning of Cs/Pb and Br/Cl in wide‐bandgap perovskites. Automated multimodal mapping of 500+ compositions reveals a high‐energy optical transition that correlates with enhanced photoluminescence, defining a practical Cs/Pb window.

Functionalizing Micro‐to‐Mesoscopic Electrode Architectures for Regulating Electron Transfer Behaviors in Electrocatalysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A systematic review is conducted to assess the influence of electrode architecture across micro‐ to mesoscopic length scales on electron‐transfer pathways in electrocatalysis. We discuss the structure‐activity relationships in electrocatalytic applications, including resource recovery and environmental remediation, and provide cost‐effective, efficient

Post-fire litter microsites: Safe for seeds, unsafe for seedlings [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
We explore the effect of post—fire microsites on seed and seedling distribution and hence their potential role in community restoration. A summer wildfire and control burn in a sclerophyll shrubland in mediterranean Australia produced mosaics of ...

Memristive‐Gated RC‐Delay Synaptic Transistors for Time‐Encoded Analog in‐Memory Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A Memristive‐Gated Transistor for Time‐Encoded Analog In‐Memory Computing — By exploiting the RC delay of a self‐rectifying interface‐type memristor, nonlinear I–V distortion is structurally bypassed, enabling 3‐bit nonvolatile memory, spike‐timing‐based analog encoding, and hardware‐calibrated reservoir‐computing validation within a unified device ...

"Warm, friendly, reliable, and do what they say they do" : an evaluation of South Seeds' energy advocacy services

open access: yes, 2017
The title of this report is a quote from one of the interviewees who kindly gave us some of their time to help with this evaluation. It neatly encapsulates the key themes that emerged from this evaluation – the extent to which the South Seeds’ team are ...

Near-infrared hyperspectral imaging for classification of mung bean seeds

open access: yesInternational Journal of Food Properties, 2018
Hard mung bean seeds pose a problem in the sprouting process as they develop mold and infect neighboring seeds. Near-infrared hyperspectral imaging combined with partial least squares discriminant analysis was applied to develop a classifying model to ...

Engineered Nanotopography to Modulate Growth and Signaling of Neuronal Networks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines the interaction between neurons and nanoscale topographies on engineered substrates. Neurons cultured on nanowires, nanopillars and nanoneedles exhibit enhanced neurite outgrowth, form more organized neuronal circuits, and display improved synaptic connectivity, compared to flat substrates.
