Montana’s Hard Right Turn

open access: yesCalifornia Journal of Politics and Policy, 2022
Budgets, combined with tax policy, provide rich evidence of the applied values of legislative bodies and executives. This paper evaluates budget and tax legislation in Montana that resulted from the 67th legislative session in 2021 that set policy for the 2023 biennium. Montana, whose political complexation has long been purple, moved unambiguously red

ANALYSIS AND SELECTION OF RATIONAL CUTTING MODES WHILE USING HARD-ALLOY TOOL FOR SHAFT TURNING

open access: yesНаука и техника, 2018
Turning machining of such parts as shafts is considered as the most widely-spread method formanufacturing units, mechanisms and machinery. While doing so it is necessary to ensure high quality of shaft turning with the help of a hard-alloy tool (accuracy

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Investigation on the effect of cooling of the tool using heat pipe during hard turning with minimal fluid application

open access: yesEngineering Science and Technology, an International Journal, 2016
Hard turning with minimal fluid application is a recently developed technique to alleviate the problem associated with cutting fluid. During this process, very small quantity of cutting fluid is applied as a narrow high velocity pulsing jet at the ...

Turning Hard Problems on Their Heads [PDF]

open access: yesPhenomenology and the Cognitive Sciences, 2006
Much of the difficulty in assessing theories of consciousness stems from their advo- cates not supplying adequate or convincing characterisations of the phenomenon (or data) they hope to explain. Yet, to make any reasonable assessment this is precisely what is required, for it is not as if our 'pre-theoretical' intuitions are philosophically innocent ...
