Experimental observation of the unidirectional motion of a topological soliton driven by a bi-harmonic ac force of zero mean is reported. The observation is made by measuring the current-voltage characteristics for a fluxon trapped in an annular ...

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Harmonic Mean Operator Based MADM-Strategy under SVPN-Set Environment [PDF]
By using single-valued pentapartitioned neutrosophic set (briefly SVPN-set), one can express uncertainty events having incomplete, indeterminate, and erroneous information in practical applications.

We briefly describe some well-known means and their properties, focusing on the relationship with integer sequences. In particular, the harmonic numbers, deriving from the harmonic mean, motivate the definition of a new kind of mean that we call the ...

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

An optimal double inequality among the one-parameter, arithmetic and harmonic means
For \(p\in\mathbb{R}\), the one-parameter mean \(J_{p}(a,b)\), arithmetic mean \(A(a,b)\), and harmonic mean \(H(a,b)\) of two positive real numbers \(a\) and \(b\) are defined by\begin{equation*}J_{p}(a,b)=\begin{cases}\tfrac{p(a^{p+1}-b^{p+1})}{(p+1)(a^

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Introducing the Harmonic Mean Solving a Tourist’s Problem
This exercise can be given to a group of students with basic knowledge of mathematics and physics at the beginning of a lesson. We can imagine that there will be some students that will solve the exercise using the “common sense” solution recalling basic

Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...
