The Biharmonic mean [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We briefly describe some well-known means and their properties, focusing on the relationship with integer sequences. In particular, the harmonic numbers, deriving from the harmonic mean, motivate the definition of a new kind of mean that we call the ...

Infrared laser sampling of low volumes combined with shotgun lipidomics reveals lipid markers in palatine tonsil carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nanosecond infrared laser (NIRL) low‐volume sampling combined with shotgun lipidomics uncovers distinct lipidome alterations in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma (OPSCC) of the palatine tonsil. Several lipid species consistently differentiate tumor from healthy tissue, highlighting their potential as diagnostic markers.

Combinatorial Identities with Multiple Harmonic-like Numbers

open access: yesAppliedMath
Multiple harmonic-like numbers are studied using the generating function approach. A closed form is stated for binomial sums involving these numbers and two additional parameters.

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

Series associated with harmonic numbers, Fibonacci numbers and central binomial coefficients $binom{2n}{n}$ [PDF]

open access: yesNotes on Number Theory and Discrete Mathematics
We find various series that involve the central binomial coefficients $binom{2n}{n}$, harmonic numbers and Fibonacci numbers. Contrary to the traditional hypergeometric function _pF_q approach, our method utilizes a straightforward transformation to ...

On the Norms of Circulant and $r-$Circulant Matrices With the Hyperharmonic Fibonacci Numbers

open access: yes, 2015
In this paper, we study norms of circulant and $r-$circulant matrices involving harmonic Fibonacci and hyperharmonic Fibonacci numbers.

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

The Negative Dimensional Oscillator at Finite Temperature

open access: yes, 1993
We study the thermal behavior of the negative dimensional harmonic oscillator of Dunne and Halliday that at zero temperature, due to a hidden BRST symmetry of the classical harmonic oscillator, is shown to be equivalent to the Grassmann oscillator of ...

All harmonic numbers less than 1014 [PDF]

open access: yesJapan Journal of Industrial and Applied Mathematics, 2007
``A positive integer \(n\) is said to be \textit{harmonic} if the harmonic mean of its positive divisors \[ H(n)=\frac{n\tau(n)}{\sigma(n)} \] is an integer, where \(\tau(n)\) denotes the number of the positive divisors of \(n\).'' Properties of harmonic numbers, including their relationship to perfect numbers, have been studied by \textit{Ø. Ore} [Am.

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.
