Separation of harmonic sounds using linear models for the overtone series
IEEE International Conference on Acoustics Speech and Signal Processing, 2002A signal processing method is described, which separates harmonic sounds by applying linear models for the overtone series of sounds. Time-varying sinusoidal parameters are estimated in an iterative algorithm which is initialized using a multipitch estimator that finds the number of concurrent sounds and their frequency components.

Ultra high frequency resonators have higher noise levels due to their greater miniaturization and higher power density. This paper proposes a new method using nonlinear acoustic coupling for improving the resonator Q and hence reducing noise levels in third overtone thickness shear resonators.

Abstract Inelastic neutron scattering spectra of MFHF (M Na and K) have been measured up to energy transfers of ca. 4000 cm−1 Both 0 → 1 and 0 → 2 transitions of the bending (v2), and antisymmetric stretching (v3) modes were observed. A normal harmonic (i.e.

Flageolet harmonics is a playing technique, in which a player lightly touches a nodal point on a string with their finger. Previous studies have reported that the harmonic sound sustains for a short time after the finger is removed from the string while ...

Finite element matrix equations, derived from two-dimensional piezoelectric high frequency plate theory are solved to study the vibrational behavior of the third overtone of thickness shear in square and circular SC-cut quartz resonators. The mass-loading and electric effects of electrodes are included.

The overtone structure of acoustic fluctuations due to harmonic variations in sound speed.
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2005Explicit relations are derived between the acoustic pressure and a sound speed that is periodic. They are derived for the Pekeris waveguide, and extended to the range and depth-dependent adiabatic mode/WKB case. As expected, acoustic pressure is found to fluctuate at the sound speed fundamental and its overtones.

Previous papers and experiments have well documented the drive level dependency in a single mode. The parameters governing drive level dependency in quartz resonators however are still not well understood. We show in this paper the nonlinear interactions

Separation of harmonic sounds using multipitch analysis and linear models for the overtone series
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2002A signal processing method for the separation of concurrent harmonic sounds is described. The method is based on a two-stage approach. First, a multiple fundamental frequency estimator is applied to find initial sound parameters which are reliable, but inaccurate and static.
