The rulership of Pippin I of Aquitaine

open access: yesEarly Medieval Europe, Volume 33, Issue 4, Page 545-571, November 2025.
This article uses the reign of Pippin I of Aquitaine (d. 838) as a case study for the historiographical concept of ‘sub‐rulership’ in Carolingian Francia. It unpicks how Pippin’s status varied over time, arguing that Pippin’s rulership represents well the tension between kingship as an office and as a dynastic status.

Correlation study of facial lipid profile differences and skin physiological characteristics in Chinese women aged 19–33 years

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cosmetic Science, Volume 47, Issue 5, Page 752-767, October 2025.
The facial SC lipid profiles of young Chinese women in the early aging stage exhibited significant changes with age. The average chain length of diacylglycerol, triacylglycerol and short‐chain ceramides decreases with age, while the cholesteryl ester and ceramide EO subclasses increase. Some ceramides correlate positively with TEWL, skin elasticity and

Phylogenomics of Messor harvester ants (Hymenoptera: Formicidae: Stenammini) unravels their biogeographical origin and diversification patterns La phylogénomique des fourmis moissonneuses Messor (Hymenoptera: Formicidae: Stenammini) clarifie leur origine biogéographique et leurs patrons de diversification

open access: yesSystematic Entomology, Volume 50, Issue 4, Page 1025-1040, October 2025.
Phylogenomic analysis of 2524 ultraconserved‐element loci from 58 Messor harvester ant species helps in redefining taxonomic groups of the genus. Messor ants emerged in the Irano‐Indian area around 20 million years ago, rapidly dispersing to the Western Palaearctic and Northeastern Africa during the early Miocene.
