Background: Brucellosis is a zoonotic disease that continues to infect many people worldwide. Though its mortality rate is low, long convalescent periods associated with brucellosis translate into reduced socio-economic capacity of the people affected ...

UV and IR effects on Hawking radiation
We study the time-dependence of Hawking radiation for a black hole in the Unruh vacuum, and find that it is not robust against certain UV and IR effects.

Virtual Hawking Radiation [PDF]
We consider the effects of off-shell Hawking radiation on scattering processes involving black holes coupled to quantum fields. The focus here is to the case of gravitational scattering of a scalar field mediated by the exchange of virtual Hawking gravitons from a four-dimensional Schwarzschild black hole.

Universality of Hawking radiation in non local field theories
Locality plays a key role in the derivation of Hawking radiation. Could relaxing the locality criterion modify Hawking radiation? We consider Hawking radiation in a general class of non local quantum field theories.

The Effect of Formal Shopping Centers in Townships on Street Vending in South African Townships
Most governments discourage informal trading, labeling it as contradictory to development. In this regard, informal trading is considered one of the leading causes of street congestion, crime, dirt, and threatening public order. Residents in low-income

Rigidity of Hawking mass for surfaces in three manifolds
It is well-know that Hawking mass is nonnegative for a stable constant mean curvature ($CMC$) sphere in three manifold of nonnegative scalar curvature. R. Bartnik proposed the rigidity problem of Hawking mass of stable $CMC$ spheres.

Aspects of hawking in the Transkei, 1920-1945
During the 20th century Transkei became a place of migrant workers, old people, women and children. The gradual impoverishment of the region and its African population paradoxically was accompanied by economic opportunities for whites, particularly in ...

Equilibrium temperature for black holes with nonextensive entropy
Hawking temperature has been widely utilized in the literature as the temperature that corresponds to various nonextensive entropies. In this study, we analyze the compatibility of the Hawking temperature with the nonextensive entropies.

The Generalized Hartle-Hawking Initial State: Quantum Field Theory on Einstein Conifolds [PDF]
Recent arguments have indicated that the sum over histories formulation of quantum amplitudes for gravity should include sums over conifolds, a set of histories with more general topology than that of manifolds.

Test of quantum atmosphere in the dimensionally reduced Schwarzschild black hole
It has been suggested by Giddings that the origin of Hawking radiation in black holes is a quantum atmosphere of near-horizon quantum region by investigating both the total emission rate and the stress tensor of Hawking radiation.
