Co‐Flowering Plant Species in a Glasshouse Boost Both Strawberry Production and Bee Health

open access: yesJournal of Sustainable Agriculture and Environment, Volume 5, Issue 3, September 2026.
Integrating co‐flowering plants into glasshouse strawberry systems creates a “win‐win” synergy where floral diversification enhances stingless bee vitality and crop visitation. This approach increased A‐grade fruit from 25% to 70%, demonstrating that strategic biodiversity integration optimises both pollinator health and sustainable agricultural ...

Boxplots: Definition, History, Extensions, and Examples

open access: yesWIREs Computational Statistics, Volume 18, Issue 3, September 2026.
This article reviews Tukey's boxplot, including its early forerunners and subsequent enhancements. The review includes 13 versions of the boxplot for univariate data and six boxplot‐inspired displays for bivariate data. Data on U.S. county melanoma mortality rates (1973‐1987) illustrate the displays described in this review.

Guild‐Specific Frog Responses to Natural Habitat Structure Gradients in an Atlantic Forest Mosaic

open access: yesEcological Research, Volume 41, Issue 5, September 2026.
This study investigated how habitat structure gradients are associated with frog species richness and occupancy in a naturally heterogeneous Atlantic Forest mosaic. We found that frog richness and occupancy patterns varied among ecological guilds and were highest in sites associated with lower values of the habitat structure gradient, which also ...

More of the Same: A Document Analysis of the Government's Response to Ageing with Intellectual Disabilities in Hong Kong

open access: yesJournal of Policy and Practice in Intellectual Disabilities, Volume 23, Issue 3, September 2026.
ABSTRACT As the population of people ageing with intellectual disabilities grew in the 1980s, the Hong Kong government supported research exploring their needs and recommended a range of initiatives, including the promotion of community inclusion. This study aimed to identify how the government has understood and responded to the ‘problem’ of people ...

Writing Big in Plant Genomes: Advances, Challenges and Strategies for Targeted Large‐Fragment DNA Insertion

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, Volume 49, Issue 9, Page 6506-6520, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Precise genome editing has transformed plant biology and crop improvement by enabling targeted modification of endogenous loci. Beyond gene knockout and base editing, the site‐specific insertion of exogenous DNA, particularly large DNA fragments, has become a central goal for engineering complex traits, reconstructing metabolic pathways and ...
