Optimal neuromuscular performance requires motor neuron phosphagen kinases

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Motor neuron (MN) terminals in fruit flies, mice and humans contain phosphagen kinases, a key enzyme in their energy storage and buffering system. Here we knocked down the primary phosphagen kinase in fruit fly larvae (arginine kinase 1 (ArgK1)) but were surprised to find that MN endurance was unaffected.

GATA3 Deletion Associated With Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis: Expanding the Phenotypic Spectrum of Hypoparathyroidism, Sensorineural Deafness, and Renal Dysplasia (HDR) Syndrome

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, Volume 200, Issue 3, Page 733-737, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Hypoparathyroidism, sensorineural deafness, and renal dysplasia (HDR) syndrome is caused by pathogenic variants in the GATA3 gene located on chromosome 10p14. Here we present a 10‐year‐old girl with HDR syndrome who also has oligoarticular juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA).

CDC42‐Effector Proteins Regulate Higher Order Structure of Septins Required for CNS Myelin Integrity

open access: yesGlia, Volume 74, Issue 3, March 2026.
CDC42‐effector proteins 1/2 are present in CNS myelin. They facilitate the higher order structure of myelin septin filaments. Their loss impairs septin‐dependent scaffolding of myelin. Myelin outfoldings do not cause secondary neuropathology per se. ABSTRACT The regular structure of CNS myelin requires specialized structural proteins, including septin ...

Checklist and quality assurance tools for integration of two radiation oncology information systems (ROISs)

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 27, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract Background Merging two radiation oncology information systems (ROISs) is often necessary due to system changes or hospital integrations. ROIS integration is a high‐risk procedure, that requires clear procedural guidelines and comprehensive QA methods to ensure safe practice.

Impact of rectal gas evacuation on dosimetry and applicator displacement in cervical cancer brachytherapy

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 27, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract Objective This study aimed to evaluate the impact of rectal gas evacuation on organ‐at‐risk (OAR) volumes, dose‐volume histogram (DVH) parameters, and applicator displacement during cervical cancer brachytherapy. Methods Twenty‐one cervical cancer patients who received three‐dimensional brachytherapy at our center between November and December

Mechanisms of Direct Electron Transfer Governed by Redox‐Active Conductive Carrier with Superior Wettability in Anaerobic Biofilms

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 8, 9 February 2026.
A redox‐active conductive carrier of tannic acid‐modified iron‐biochar with superior wettability is demonstrated to regulate direct electron transfer at the anaerobic biofilm‐carrier interface by enhancing the cytochrome c‐mediated pathway. For the first time, integrated evidence from spectroscopy, electrochemical analyses, and metatranscriptomics ...

Functional outcomes and toxicity following focal low‐dose‐rate brachytherapy for low–intermediate risk prostate cancer

open access: yesBJUI Compass, Volume 7, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract Objectives We aim to prospectively evaluate functional outcomes and toxicity following focal low‐dose‐rate (LDR) brachytherapy for low–intermediate risk prostate cancer (PCa). Patients and Methods LIBERATE is a clinical registry of men treated with focal LDR brachytherapy for low–intermediate risk PCa since September 2019.

Low-dose-rate induces more severe cognitive impairment than high-dose-rate in rats exposed to chronic low-dose γ-radiation

open access: yesFrontiers in Public Health
BackgroundOwing to the long penetration depth of gamma (γ)-rays, individuals working in ionizing radiation environments are chronically exposed to low-dose γ-radiation, resulting in cognitive changes.
