Coulomb effects in high energy He4He4 elastic scattering

Abstract In this note we extend the results of previous work (Ref. [1]) for high energy He 4 He 4 elastic scattering to include the Coulomb corrections. We find these corrections important around the diffractive minima.

Excited states of Li6 observed through He4(d, d)He4

Angular distributions (18° ≦ θ_(c.m.) ≦156 °) for the elastic scattering of deuterons from He4 have been obtained at 500 keV intervals for bombarding energies between 2.9 and 11.5 MeV. A phase shift analysis of these data has been made yielding confirming evidence for the existence of D wave, J^π = 2^+ and 1^+ levels at excitation energies of 4.9 and 6.

He4-He4 interaction potential from low energy total cross section measurements

Total relative and absolute cross sections for He4-He4 have been measured between 110 and 1100 m/s velocity of the primary beam at scattering chamber temperatures of 5.0 and 77 K. Our measurements are sensitive to the low energy repulsive and the attractive part of the potential.

Phenomenological He4-He4 potential and the properties of liquid helium (He4)

The properties of liquid He4 whose particles are interacting among themselves through an equivalent two-body Gaussian potential are studied by using the Bogolubov method. It is shown that the value of the hard-core radius σ≦2·2 A°; the most probable values form*/m lie between 1·292 and 9 and that forΔ/k between 8 and 16 °K.

Dynamics of He4 droplets

Optimized variational calculations have been carried out for clusters of He4 between N=20 and N=1000 atoms. For small cluster sizes with less or equal to 112 particles, where comparisons with existing diffusion Monte Carlo results are possible, we find good agreement for the ground state energies and densities.

P-Odd effects in the ?+He4 ? He4 + ?0 reaction

P-Odd effects with the elastic photoinformation of neutral pions in He4 nuclei are due to the interference of the P-odd amplitude of weak interaction with the P-even amplitude of strong interaction, and originate only for polarized photons. We describe the realization of a He4 magnetometer based on optical pumping with an optical frequency modulated laser diode light. Performances (amplitude and frequency spatial isotropy and sensitivity) of our device are presented and compared with those of other scalar magnetometers.
