Polish profile control using magnetic control head
MRS Proceedings, 2004AbstractMagnetic bearing technology is widely used in various technical fields, and is particularly appreciated in the semiconductor industry, where it is applied to the turbo molecular pump and wafer transfer system due to the excellent controllability it provides, even at speeds as high as 50,000 rpm.

Head Control Changes After Headpod Use in Children With Poor Head Control: A Feasibility Study
Pediatric Physical Therapy, 2018Purpose: To determine the feasibility of Headpod use to improve head control in children with cerebral palsy classified as Gross Motor Function Classification System level V. Methods: Children (3-11 years) with poor head control were video recorded before and after 3 and 6 months of

Head to head comparisons as an alternative to placebo-controlled trials
European Neuropsychopharmacology, 2012Head to head trials have been proposed as an alternative to the ethical and methodological concerns related to placebo-controlled trials. While those studies may be particularly informative from the clinical and cost-effectiveness point-of-view, avoiding placebo poses several regulatory concerns: for superiority designs, the choice of the trial ...

Head movement immune active noise control with head mounted moving microphones
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2017The active headrest is an important application of active noise control (ANC) where the occupant gets a quiet zone during use. However, its performance degrades due to head movement, which is an important issue. Unlike conventional active headrest algorithm, in the present paper, the two error microphones are attached to a head attachment such as a hat

The head as a monobloc has 6 degrees of freedom which can be usefully designated with navigational terms ‘yaw, pitch, roll’ for angular motions and ‘bob’ (up-down), ‘heave’ (side to side) and ‘surge’ (face backwards-forwards) for linear motions (Findley and Gresty, 1988).

HEADS UP: Sensorimotor control of the head-neck system
2014Head-neck stabilization is inherently challenging even when stationary, requiring constant vigilance to counter the downward pull of gravity. It involves a highly complex biomechanical system comprised of a large mass (the head) balanced on top of seven vertebrae (the neck), that are in turn connected to a moving base (the torso).

Head gestures for computer control
Proceedings IEEE ICCV Workshop on Recognition, Analysis, and Tracking of Faces and Gestures in Real-Time Systems, 2002This paper explores the ways in which head gestures can be applied to the user interface. Four categories of gestural task are considered: pointing, continuous control, spatial selection and symbolic selection. For each category, the problem is examined in the abstract, focusing on human factors and an analysis of the task, then solutions are presented

Trans. of the IVth Fund. Res. Symp. Oxford, 1969, 1969
The papers on this subject have described total head controlled by pneumatic valves as actuators. In the Chao & Sanborn paper, the authors mention that a time lag of 5 s or more must be tolerated when using these actuators. Ι suggest that somewhat more rapid control can be arranged by using a modern electronic controller.
