Developments in multiple headspace extraction

Journal of Biochemical and Biophysical Methods, 2007
This paper reviews new developments in multiple headspace extraction (MHE), especially its combination with two miniaturized extraction techniques, solid-phase microextraction (SPME) and single-drop microextraction (SDME). The combination of the techniques broadens the applicability of SPME and SDME to quantitative determination of analytes in complex ...

An accessory for headspace analysis

Chromatographia, 1970
If a laboratory has to deal regularly with large numbers of samples which have to be analyzed by the headspace method, this task can be taken over by commercial, fully automated instruments (such as the Perkin-Elmer Model F 40). The situation is different if such analyses occur only occasionally.

An analysis of volatiles in the headspace of the faeces of neonates

Journal of Breath Research, 2008
A gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GCMS) analysis of the headspace from the faeces of neonates was undertaken to record the volatiles associated with preterm babies on a neonatal unit. The compounds ethanol, acetone, 2-ethyl-1-hexanol, 3-methylbutanal, hexanal and 2,3-butanedione occurred with the highest frequency.

The ISO headspace CO2 biodegradation test

Chemosphere, 1997
Two published methods for evaluating the aerobic biodegradability of organic compounds by measuring inorganic carbon (CO2) production in sealed vessels, under a headspace of air were combined into one protocol. This was ring tested in 1995 by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) using aniline and 1-octanol as the test substances ...
