Analysis of the volatile components of five Turkish Rhododendron species by headspace solid-phase microextraction and GC-MS (HS-SPME-GC-MS) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Volatile constituents of various solvent extracts (n-hexane, CH2Cl2, H2O) of 15 different organs (leaves, flowers, fruits) of five Rhododendron species (Ericaceae) growing in Turkey were trapped with headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME ...

Identifying Food Packaging Migrants: Current Analytical Capabilities, Challenges, and Future Prospects

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 25, Issue 3, May 2026.
ABSTRACT The migration of intentionally and non‐intentionally added substances (IAS/NIAS) from food packaging into foodstuffs presents a significant challenge to consumer health and food safety. Accurate and comprehensive identification of these chemical migrants is therefore paramount.

An Easy Method to Sample Headspace Pheromones in the Field

open access: yesEthology, Volume 132, Issue 5, Page 365-371, May 2026.
Females of the orb‐web spider Argiope bruennichi produces a pheromone to attract males for mating. Most of our knowledge about the pheromone and its strategical use by the females is known from the laboratory. While we have confidence in the validity of these results, we wanted to make sure and measure pheromones in the field.

Comparison of Different Methodologies for Detailed Screening of Honey Volatiles

open access: yesNatural Product Communications, 2015
Headspace solid-phase microextraction (HS-SPME), ultrasonic solvent extraction (USE) and solid phase extraction (SPE), followed by GC-FID/MS were used for screening of dandelion ( Taraxacum officinale Weber) honey headspace, volatiles and semi-volatiles.

Chromosome‐Scale Haplotype Genome Assemblies for the Australian Mango ‘Kensington Pride’ and a Wild Relative, Mangifera laurina, Provide Insights Into Anthracnose‐Resistance and Volatile Compound Biosynthesis Genes

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 24, Issue 5, Page 3172-3188, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Mango (Mangifera indica) is one of the most popular fruits cultivated in tropical and subtropical regions of the world. The availability of reference genomes helps to identify the genetic basis of important traits. Here, we report assembled high‐quality chromosome‐level genomes for the Australian mango cultivar ‘Kensington Pride’ and M ...

Volatile Organic Components from Fresh Non-edible Basidiomycetes Fungi

open access: yesNatural Product Communications, 2009
The compounds responsible for the characteristic odor of eight fresh non-edible Basidiomycetes fungi were evaluated. The volatile organic compounds from the fresh samples present in the headspace of a sealed vial were determined by solid-phase ...

Specific and Multi‐Product Clade I and Clade IV Sesquiterpene Synthases Contribute to the Psilocybe cubensis Volatilome

open access: yesChemBioChem, Volume 27, Issue 8, April 2026.
Five sesquiterpene synthases of Psilocybe cubensis were investigated in vitro and in vivo. CubF is a clade I synthase producing α‐muurolol, whereas clade IV synthases CubG1 and CubG2 produce epi‐isozizaene and β‐duprezianene. Further clade IV synthases CubH and CubI primarily make dauca‐4(11),8‐diene and β‐barbatene, respectively.

Characterization of Volatile Organic Compounds and Warmed‐Over Flavor in Flat Peach Juice Through Thermal and Nonthermal Sterilization Using Integrated Flavoromics and Multivariate Analysis

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2026.
Flat peach juice was subjected to thermal sterilization (high‐temperature sterilization and pasteurization) and nonthermal sterilization (high hydrostatic pressure and microwave sterilization). Volatile profiles and sensory attributes were characterized using HS–GC–IMS, HS–SPME–GC–MS, and bionic sensory evaluation.
